Unfortunately it looks like none of the Tarring boys did not know anything about their games tonight, saw Tony at the club tonight and he said sorry for anyone who turned up expecting to play one off them. He said he knew nothing about the games tonight as he does not use proboards.so it looks like Alan, Andy and Brian are going through to the next round as the all turned up at the venues.

E-mail sent 09/01/24 and Tony was one of those included along with yourself Dave so this was used alongside pro boards and yes we have used the captains chat before but on this occasion due to an oversight (human error on my part) this was missed so apologies.

A quick report on the 2 doubles matches played at the Henty last night.... Dan and Chris beat Barry and Joe in a high quality game to start the evening. Barry went in with 10k and touch in the first game (after a few adventures) with Chris then playing the rest of the game out. Dan was caught out by a slight roll very early in his break, Joe got the balls back straight away but came off on about 2.5k, Chris made a really good 9k break and touch to take the game to a decider before Barry finished the game off. On to the decider.... Joe went first and was flying along very nicely (until he had a couple of splits that nearly went wrong) before breaking down on just over 13k after just under 12 minutes. Chris chose to pull the bar straight away and started his chase, played superbly again (he was on fire last night) to overhaul Joe's score to win the match. On to the 2nd game.... in which the standard was not at the same level. Michael went first, he was also caught out early in his break and off with less than 1k. Gary and I didn't get the break back, Phil did and started to play the game he loves most, potting rather than splitting. A lovely break of more than 5k and he was well in control of the first leg before leaving a ball hanging over the 100 hole right in the middle. A good shot across the table to clear that but he left the cue ball sitting on the white peg and lost his break trying to come off the back cushion. 1 good shot from Michael to get the break back and he made a good 5k and touch to take the first leg for us. Phil on with the break in the second and he made no mistake with a chanceless 9k opening break to level the match. Gary added another 2k to that before Michael finished the game off. On to the decider.... I went first but never settled and was off with just under 2.5k. Gary looked very good at the start of his break, but also came off at 2k. We all had a couple of goes on the table with very little luck before Michael got the break back, only to come off again around 2k. More goes for each of us without getting the break back before I eventually had a bit of luck, got the balls back and played the rest of the table out with another 2k. So, a very scrappy 2-1 win for us in the end, a result that probably would have been very different if Phil had kept his break in the first game. Many thanks to Joe and Chris for staying to score our game after Phil and I had shared scoring duties in the first match.
