Sad to hear this news.
Bob was an odd individual, similar to John "the Jacket" Mitchell in our league, always wore a blue blazer.
He was a fine player in his day too!
In circa 1970 we were a keen bunch at the Rose & Crown in Deal. Our team had been formed from several young and able players from different teams who met socially. However we played "old fashioned" billiards, two down, one-up on the third shot.
Bob Halls started to show up of a Friday night when we were having team nights and, to our amazement, started to coach us on this "split" shot that none of us knew! Bob became a regular visitor to Deal and we mastered the split shot. So it was thanks to Bob that the old Deal league top players took their game to another level. I can still remember him, a quiet man, sitting at the bar in his jacket.
We were good though and made the Kent semis of the old "Watney Straight Eight" national comp when dozens of teams entered it and it meant something. I remember when the British Pilot from Medway came down in a coach and were very late arriving at the venue but it did not matter as they were an all powerful Medway team and were heard to say they would only need three legs to be played to beat the local hicks. They were right! but not in the direction they expected.
It was nice to see Bob more recently at Kent Interleagues prior to Covid killing our interest, we always had a chat about the old days.
Rest well Bob and thank you.
