I have just heard the sad news that Peter Gibbs has died after a long illness

For may years he played in both the Horsham and Billingshurst leagues, and was in fact the secretary of the Billingshurst league between 1991 and 2011 when I took over the task

Funeral details will be added when known

I remember some very good matches against Peter & his team during my spell in the Horsham league, another gentleman of the game and a very tough opponent, RIP Peter, condolences to his family

Just to add though that he also starred on the County scene:

• He won the Sussex Champion-of-Champions in 1987/88 (was also runner-up in 1988/89)
  
• He won the Sussex Masters in 1998 (also runner-up in 1996)
• And partnered Tony Lighting to the Sussex Doubles title in 1980/81.

The records also show that he lost just 9 of 41 Interleague games played for Horsham between 1974 and 1992; and represented the County on at least one occasion (1984/85).
