Bevvy 1 Duke of Wellie 4
Ellis 6680 v 3790 KT - Congrats to Ellis on his highest ever break last night, a superb 5500 opening break making me have to think about the chase. I was going ok until I thinned a split, taking a peg out. Ellis added a few hundred more and I chased again, this time breaking down on 3k+, eventually the clock did me. Well done mate. Brian 4900 v 6800 Tupps - Another competitive game in which Brian had a couple of breaks , he was about 2.5k up when Tupps made the winning break of about 4k Kev S 3400 v 7380 Colin - Kev not at his best tonight with the footie distracting but Colin played some vintage stuff, including a 5k break for his win Zoe🤪2040 v 4780 Mick W- Zoe off early and always chasing after that, good steady game from Mick Ash 850 v 6060 Dave - Ash off very early, Dave took control for a good win, which didn’t look likely early on
Thanks to the Bevvy for a nice selection of sarnies I believe the leaders suffered a disastrous 5-0 defeat at the Stags so we might be top going into the last 4 games 😮

New Oak B 2-3 Blue Anchor **Stuart Carruthers 5560 - 9750 - Rick Cunningham - Stuart started confidently but was off on about 2.5k. In form Rick playing very positively got them straight back and raced to over 5k before an underhit split produced a fine touch up off the side cushion. Really good clearance from Stu but he struggled thereafter. Rick dominating the rest of the leg and even a kick on the break easily overcome for a well played victory. Stuart said afterwards he can't play the top, however Jim Millward says this is not the case as you smashed him earlier in the season. Rick always says he can't play the top..... **Lorraine Hall 3410 - 930 Tony Jenner - Near 2k opener for Lorraine but it was a right battle after that with both players struggling to get the balls back. Tony did manage it well into the second half of the leg but was unfortunate to leave a 20 split hanging, he took the peg out next shot and Lorraine got them back soon after, securing a low scoring win **Jean Brackenridge 4120 - 7280 Matthew Knight - Jean started well, but off on about 2k, she was first to get them back after a couple of dreadful efforts from me. I thought that was the end but Jean was off very quickly, and I managed to get them back and make enough first time despite a couple of ropey shots early on in the break **Alan Brackenridge 3990 - 8290 Joe Oakley - Big Al normally assured on the New Oak top was not at his best tonight. He was off before 2k, Joe first to get them back but off with a rubbish split, then a peg from nowhere gave Joe the balls back and no messing about second time with an excellent near 8k break and touch to give us the match **Sandra Hall 9360 - 0 Chris Cox - Superb opening break of 8980 from Sandra, was the highest break of the night and never looked in the slightest trouble. She was getting a bit nervous towards the end so played a safe shot when a 10k was definitely on the cards. Left Coxy no time but more than enough time to have a fume when he was informed "well our worst player played their best player" Great play Sandy and all the Halls as they got the quadruple up with all 4 of them winning Very enjoyable night in excellent company and looks like the league is going down to the wire....we go the Oak again last match of the season to play the As

I have just come out of therapy so I can now report on the trauma of Wednesday night's massacre
Stag C 5 - 0 New Oak A
Stu Mepham 6,790* - 2,920 Marc Chipman Bob Hall 12,320 - 2,690* Phil Osborne Kev Hall 17,450 - 800* Ian Lelliott Grant Tully 10,220* - 6,820 Nigel Senior Jim Millward 9,690 - 3,750* Bob Osborne
In leg 1, Stu took on Marcus, Stu was fresh after winning the over 50s sussex title the Saturday before, went off with 50 to celebrate the win (well 500 actually). Marcus got out from under the bus to respond with not very much but was first to get the balls back. A 2 ball miss on his first split let Stu back in for a 5k break but left the one up short. Marcus still had time (6.5 mins) but with one (or both) eyes on the injury time on the Brighton football game he managed to make it 4 balls missed out of 4 with split attempts. Stu missed again but the leg was over. 1-0
Leg 2, Phil unfortunately has had his struggles on the Stag and could only make 2k on his first 2 break visits. Bob then got the balls back and took a bit of time to settle but killed the leg off scoring 12k. 2-0
Leg 3 Ian missed his first split and was off on 500. Kev got the back after a couple of attempts and there was no mercy with a 17k score. 3-0
Leg 4 I took on Grant, one visit each 10k to Grant, 7k from me 4-0
Leg 5 Jim completed the whitewash as Bob O put the one up behind giving Jim an early chance which he took. 5-0
A good performance by the Stag, but we will be feeling we should have done a lot better having had 3 breaks and chances. But we fight on as 4 wins gets us the title. Ian might have to ditch his shorts yet......

I know. I'm late again. Been having a few problems and busy and forgot.
MSC 3 - 2 Master Mariner
Mick 1430 - 2690 Moppy Dave 2800 - 990 DJ Phil BP - 3430 Steve Colin 5060 - 580 Darren Tim 5920 - 2910 Moppy
Mick, so good in practice, completely messed up the break and Moppy took advantage. Mick always playing catch up after that Dave got the break back after DJ only potted the red, and never looked back. DJ desperate to get into 4 figures. I put myself on against the break and had my chances but cocked up. Just protecting my summer average, you know. Colin went off like a trooper and the 3k opening gave Darren no chance. Tim opening with his first 2k + break meant Moppy, who was playing his second match of the evening, had to catch him, He messed up on 1k and Tim came back with his second over 2k break giving Moppy no chance to catch up.
Lots of banter and the pizza and chips very quickly disappeared. Well done to all the players except me who should have stayed in bed.

The Stags Head C still have two outstanding matches to arrange through no fault of their own, they cannot both be played on the "free week" so please liaise with the Stags Head and arrange them as soon as possible
