Totty tops the ladies in guernsey Barbilliards
Kerry Totty wins all 5 matches to be crowned the ladies masters champion.
8 ladies competed for the crown at the hampshire. Using 2 tables the players were drawn into groups.
Playing a round robin with the top 2 from each group progressing to the semi finals
Kerry in her own words was not the favorite to even progress from the groups let alone win the event.
However she took all 3 Legs beating Annie Wilkins. Annie Harvey and Sam Hamon.
In the other group it came down to aggregate scores to determine who progressed with Carla Allen. And Kate le gallez pipping Clare Anderson and last years winner Claire Gauvain.
Both semi finals were close affairs. Unfortunately though Kate le gallez black pegged and lost all her score in the second game allowing Annie Harvey to rest easy in the dying minutes before time ran out.
Good friends Carla Allen and Kerry then met in the other semi final. Kerry took a small lead in the first game however despite Carla closing the gap slightly in the second game it wasn’t enough.
Indian Part the reason for Kerry success was her ability to stay calm and continually add to any score she had. Annie Harvey though is a formidable opponent, despite this being her first season she is more than capable of scoring a big break at anytime.
The game was nip and tuck throughout and when Annie took a 60 point lead, with only 2 balls remaining she looked favorite to win. But with Kerry now at the table she had a tricky shot. She needed to ensure she kept 1 ball up or score at least 70 Points. She managed to pot one ball in the 20 and keep the last ball for an attempt at the 100 with the final ball.
The calmness appeared to had gone in the final moments but she managed to compose herself and roll the ball in to win by just 60 points. 2930 v 2870.
