It is with an extremely heavy heart I have to let you know that our beloved Charlie passed away peacefully at 2am on Saturday morning - he was 97 years young.
Charlie was the most dedicated Bar Billiard player and ambassador of our game I have ever known and was our Secretary in Wycombe for nearly 50 years - I am sure this will never be repeated and probably no league has ever seen the same. He never missed an All England or an Inter Area AGM, even when he couldn't drive anymore Cliff would be his driver. He and Ede went to the first Jersey tournament and never missed one until they could no longer travel.
Charlie was a gentleman at its finest, never without a smile on his face and a cuddle and a kiss at the end of a game regardless of a win or a loss. He was married to Ede who sadly passed away earlier in the year - they had been childhood sweethearts and married for over 75 years.
We will really miss you Charlie, you were a shining light in our Bar Billiards world that has sadly gone out but you will never be forgotten - you were Mr Bar Billiards and an absolute legend - now go be with Ede.
We send love to all Charlies family and will post details of his funeral when we have them.
A heartbroken Wycombe league x

Very sorry to hear of Charlie's passing Dawn, a legend in his own time let alone after it. Few, if any, have done more for bar billiards.
My thoughts are with you,
Chris

Extremely sad news on Charlie's passing but a lovely tribute from Dawn. As said, no-one could ever match his +/- 50 years' dedication as Secretary.
He was very approachable and passed me much valued info on Wycombe venues when I requested it. A true gentleman. RIP sir. tommo
