Railway 0, Windmill GG 5 Phil Delatoore 800, Mick Holmwood 2840 (Phil new to B-b's but has good ball skills as he comes from the world of Pool; Mick's 50-odd years' experience helped him get off to a good start but it was then a case of keeping out of trouble rather than adding much to it)Scott Hope 3230, Graham Daniels 3650 (Graham looked set to set the world on fire but off on only a k and a battle royal ensued. Scott had all but caught him up but with the bar gone and only 2 whites left the margin was 220 much to Graham's relief)Grant Hope 590, Clive Thompson 5360 (Tommo enjoying playing at his old stomping ground added a thousand at every visit: not much luck going Grant's way and a BP half-way through didn't help)N athan King 960, Paul Jobbins 4510 (The landlord's first game for 31 years but I feel he is going to be okay with a bit of practise; Paul a similar game to Tommo's)Lee Tugwell 1220, Johnny Haigh 1260 (Best Michael-like imagery I can muster is that their progress was akin to two drops of rain falling down a window pane. Now to switch to Slee reporting mode, the last ball would be decided on the 100 hole: Johnny had first go and missed by a mile; then Lee stepped up to the plate, played and missed. Next cab on the rank was Johnny, nowhere near again. Lee's turn again and this time he played it too hard. Johnny's next attempt was along the right line but too soft. We all thought the game would be won by Lee but no, the best effort yet and he came agonisingly close...... Did either player want to win ?? Finally on his fourth attempt Johnny got the line and pace just right and potted it. Aceeeeed !) So a rather lucky Hawaii for the visitors, and we thank our opponents for the match played in a sporting and friendly environment. To cap it all, afterwards we were served up a delightful chicken curry by Nathan, so tasty that it merited three separate helpings.

null " The Roffey Derby " Roffey Ssc B 1 Roffey Ssc A 4
Hoppo 2420 Moose 5590 Mel 3590 Steve 5290 Dick 3400 John 5030 Ian 1160 Twig 5640 Hoppo 3820 Pete 2770 Hoppo 4 Player
First up Steve and Moose. Lee on with the break But soon off and muttering to himself. Hoppo on but Unable to take advantage the table got a bit loaded with balls. Plenty of chances for both and scores Pretty even. Eventually with a bit of help from Steve Moose cleared up and made a good 3k to seal The leg.
Next up Mel and Sniffer and Steve off with a decent break to start things. Mel next to get them back Played some good stuff to put a dent in Steve's lead. Chances again for both players, who could get Them back first. Lucky For us it was Sniffer and one last go was enough for the win 2-0
Leg 3 and yours truly against my good friend Dick. On with the break and going along fine till I caught A split a bit thin and spun into a peg. Dick not having much luck I took my chance to make a bit of a Lead. Eventually I cleared the table and made 3k but left the balls quite well. Dick next to get them Back and played to the bar with best part of 3 grand.
Next on Captains leg Ian and Twig. Twig on but Twig off unfortunately. Plenty of goes for both players With Ian struggling to get going. Twig next to get them back and Eureka the penny dropped and he Made À very steady 3k. One last chance was enough for skipper making our fourth player to score in the five Thousands.
Last but not least Pete and Hoppo for his second visit of the night. Pete on and opened with a steady 2k. Steve learning from his first game made a better start this time. Scores Pretty equal Pete got Them back and was Going along nicely till unluckily he left one up the Middle. Off the cush but slid By and lost. Steve playing a great shot next cleared up and made a match winning break to take a home Point.
Great evening with the B's and a good win for us to keep the pressure on everybody.
