Sadly Neil Higgins lost his long fight and passed away yesterday, and I don't have any other details but find it sad to lose somebody I liked and respected. He was a great bar billiards player and will be missed. RIP Neil

Such sad news Neil and I go back a few years and he was a true gent and a stalwart of the Worthing League. A member of the London and Edinburgh team who won the league in the 90s. He had a tremendous dry sense of humour, a very tough opponent but a sporting one who would always come back with a pint on losing. Remember him nicknaming Steve Aylmore (who as a fireman) greasy pole much to the amusement of our Empire team. I remember playing a Worthing trebles where he was the A player, me the B and the lovely Lyn the C player and I was having one of those days where the wrong TJ turned up and couldn`t pot a ball and the looks I got were classic bless him along with the sniping but tongue in cheek comments. You will be sadly missed old friend may you rest in peace. Mine and Liz`s thoughts and condolences are with Lyn and Neils family.

As we all know, Neil had some terrible health issues for many years, however he battled those as hard as he competed on the table and never gave up. Always a gentleman, in victory or defeat, who had a terrific dry sense of humour which his long-standing team mates and friends will remember well. My condolences to Lyn, his family, team mates and friends at this extremely sad time. RIP Neil, you will be missed but not forgotten.

I will always have fond memories of Neil in Jersey. I was in his group twice over the years and he was always a true gentleman.
RIP Neil.
