Chaz Dunkley | 20 | Graham Daniels | 4860 | Dave Sands | 2220 | Johnny Haigh | 1280 | Kelly Slater | 2720 | Clive Thompson | 1790 | Dave Slater | 1680 | Paul Jobbins | 1020 | Bill Hicks | 1920 | Mick Holmwood | 3150 |
After everything went our way last week, it was a case of unlucky 13th for the Champions tonight as Alfold recorded their second win of the season - and deservedly so. In games 2 and 4 they ground out the win, but games 1, 3 and 5 contained some drama: Graham's opener was a mere 150 and Chaz started confidently enough but whilst on around 800 he put the break down four times and after that didn't get much of a look in. Game 3 was copying game 1, me going away with 150 and Kelly spilling 800 with a miscue. I managed to get 600 ahead thanks to Kelly pegging another equivalent. But then a magnificent effort of 1700 on her third visit put me in trouble and I never recovered. At 1-3 down we were looking for a hero to save our blushes, and - you guessed it - Mick went away with only 150. Bill got going and soon established a 1k lead. Mick then played the break differently and did to Bill what Kelly had done to me. So the unbeaten monkey is now off our back and more serious disaster averted - well just about. But Well Done Alfold !

Railway 0 Roffey SSCB 5
Grant 1090 Blakey 2700 Dave 1440 Iain 2140 Scott 2020 Hoppo 3350 Colin 490 Dick 1950 Lee 1310 Blakey again (4pr)2060
Game 1. Blakey in front most of the way. Grant mounted a comeback at the end and had the game sewn up, only for the second to last ball to whip out and peg the break. 🤦🏻 Frame to Blakey. Game 2. Iain lost his 2k opener but redeemed himself with some superb long range 50 play later on. Nothing going for Dave until after the bar had dropped. Game 3. A costly 2k loss from Scott midway left Hoppo off the hook.🪝 Game 4. A scrappy game.nothing going for Colin, Dick fared slightly better. Game 5. Some good play from Lee but struggled with the break. Blakey in the groove.
An enjoyable evening even if the result onca again didn't reflect the effort. 🙄 Good luck to Dick and Hoppo for the coming Jersey weekend. Many thanks to Nathan for a delicious spread to round off the evening. 😋
