See Worthing board Nige, sorry bit late, but big day today as dad was having op to remove his bladder and to much relief looks to have been a success althoyugh a lot of after care needed. Can I say thanks to all who have passed their good wishes to me. Cheers Tony, great result for you last night, well done, and very good news about your dad. Re cut off date, I have always been led to believe that you must have turned either 50 or 60 on the 1st Jan of that year. I always beleived the 'season' started on Jan 1st and ended with the AGM in Dec. That seems the most logical, and the existing rule of 1st Sept seems to be due to county champs starting in Sept. I think it would be simpler if we could change it to Jan 1st season start.
For the over 50/60s this year I will allow anyone to play who was 50 or 60 at the start of the year, as that would be consistent with previous years and what I have told anyone who has asked.

An interesting one, running a competiton on the basis of a heresay rule when the AGM minutes quite clearly state that the AEBBA season starts on September 1st, especially as that includes the Alternate Rules, a singles competition. Yes I remember it being jungle whispered that qualification was 1st Jan, but that's not what the rule book says ;D Sav

Not getting at Nigel, but I do not believe this is in accordance with the rules, but a date someone has thought of in the past and is now being interpreted as a rule.. I confess a vested interest in as to whether I qualify for the Over 60's (if I were to go). I have emailed Dave Alder (AEBBASEC) and Nigel for a formal decision on this. Sav.
