Cheers Bob,
I applaud your efforts in getting this and the Guernsey internationals going.
I am just very disappointed in not being able to go myself, and the threat to our county interleagues. Fortunately not many Kent players attend these comps nowadays, but it would only take a few to wreck our interleagues that we are struggling to keep going.
Sav.

Apart from whch, as stated in my previous post, I would not have let my county down, I agreed to the table arrangements for the Kent festival long before this date was first mentioned in December and I would have stood by those arrangements, international or not. Sav. Sorry Sav, I didn't mean to be unsympathetic to your personal plight when I posted yesterday. :( It is always sad when clashes of dates mean some will miss out on competitions they would like to have attended. Hopefully it won't be the same events clashing every year.

Yep, considering only three of us made it to the Kent Classic last year, our own county open! Can't see Dover & Deal being affected - even if a few do fancy a weekend in Guernsey (it does sound tempting, have to admit) we currently field 4 teams in the A and B interleagues, so would just have to lose a team. If the other leagues lose more players, may be worth checking into the feasability of moving the festival to the bank holiday weekend at the end of May?

Guernsey Open in May 2008
I've had a meeting with Suzanne the manage of the Peninsula this morning and she has agreed to reduce the room rates by a further £5 per person per night.
A double room is now £35 pppn sharing and single rooms are £50 pppn.
Anyone who has already booked their rooms will be charged the new rate.

well done Bob. Even though it`s only a £5 reduction, it sounds better. Plus, that money could go toward a meal :)

I have to agree with my County Secretary on these points raised with the clash of the competitions in Guernsey. I to would like to have gone over to that particular Channel Isle, as I have only been for a Saturday and Sunday 7 years ago, as a break from arranging, and attending my mother's funeral. That said, I to have the commitment to my County tournaments, and I always look forward to seeing old friends that do not go to the opens that are around the country, and feel that, as the County Chairman, it is my duty, as well as a pleasure to promote hte game in my own county, and by supporting the Interleague competitions, and the KBBA Knockouts, I feel that I am doing a little to help. Good luck to the England team in Guernsey, and I wish every success to the organisers of the Guernsey Open, and may the best man / woman win.
