3-3 eh VERY interesting
We played the Pink People and scraped a 4-2 win by the skins of our teeth
The draws will be posted soon, when I have had time to translate them from numbers to people etc etc.

3-3 eh Very intresting........... very interesting indeed and we were lucky to get that at 3-1 down, the pub is lovely nice beer good company but the table is awful. I have no idea what type of table it is but in my honest opinion it seemed like everything was wrong on it. The pockets at the top of the table are to far from the cushions the table i think is to wide as the break had to be played with lots of right hand side thats when you got the break back!!!!! and it didn't help that it was running 13 -1/2 minutes!!!!

It might have something to do with the cushions being totally dead but other than that it was reasonably straight, different but straight!

Us pinkies have been very busy catching up with games this week, 5:1 win against the Winterton (we were at home) on Monday, Fun evening as stated on Wednesday for our scheduled fixture against the Coach and Horses (4:2 as stated by terrier) and tonight was a 5:0 loss away agaisnt the Loci B. We may have lost but I was happy with my first break scored (and held) of over 1000 in a league match and achieved my highest total score to date, so lost the game but gained in personal achievement! ;D ;D ;D

Well done HRP nice to see first 1000 break and as I was told when I first started out playing, remember that scoring the next 1000 is all about playing the same shots all over again and not thinking about how many 1000 are on the score counter.

Thats exactly right bigtj.
As I told you on Wednesday HRP, when you can score a thousand break you can play the game and the rest is all in your mind, with the odd bit of luck for good measure. Just concentrate on the next thousand and the next and the next and before you know it you will have 10,000 on the board. Now wouldn't that be worth celebrating ;D ;D

You make it sound so easy, Alan. :o
While it is admirable to encourage, I maintain that ours is an extremely difficult game to master.
I am a firm believer though in the saying ""He shoots higher that threatens the moon than he that aims at a tree" which I think applies to most sports.

Hi Tommo
I stand by the words of my mentor back in 1971. I might have refined my game a tad since those early days but it is still essentially down to concentration and the ability to bore the pants off your opposition, which, if they were pretty pink pants might not be a bad thing :o :o

Yes, unfortunately we've lost all the threads prior to 2007 on the General Bar Billiards Discussion Board.
But there was a very interesting debate prior to that about What Makes A Great Player, where we were all trying to put our finger on what proportion of concentration, accuracy, choice of shot, feelgood factor, the ability to gamble, ability to adjust to the pace of the table, armoury of 'set piece' shots that work, calmness under pressure, ability to 'read' a table, good cue action, and sometimes luck too constitutes success.
Some of us lesser mortals were able to pick up useful tips from Sir KT, Milko and Nigel - who all took an active part in the debate.
But you're right in that the ability to concentrate for the whole game is one of the most important factors, and was always a great failing of mine, though I've managed to improve that part of my game more recently when playing on a reasonable table.

In my humble opinion HRP, I think the standard throughout the lower divisions has increased ten fold this season. As you know, we all have a chance against the top players, not just because they are having a bad night (so they tell us)!!!! Its a shame that the MCP trophy cannot be awarded to the league.
