Mid Sussex heroes in the Portsmouth Open yesterday.......
Last 32 appearance: Richard Jeffrey. Included the scalp of Surrey No.1 Geoff Jukes. Edged the first game, and in the second piled up 6k after Geoff lost his opening 3k with a piece of misfortune.
Last 32 appearance: Ros Appleby. Won her Second Round game when her opponent, needing the 200 to tie, felled the black peg.
Nearly men : Pete Edwards negotiated his First Round match safely, was cruising on a 3k break in the Second but had a 'whip' on the split - which proved decisive. And Dave Ingram, playing his first Open, lost a tough First Round match to Pete Farrelly, but had a couple of impressive victories in the Plate.

Actually, I played the Oxford Open as well Tommo a got a bit further in that one....!! Although it was nice to beat the BB Reaper in the plate, that will gain me a few weeks bragging rights on a Wednesday evening!! ;) (Sorry Kev - :-* :'() But the definite stars of the show for Mid-Sussex were Ros who played very well for both her wins and Sir Jock who struggled through the pain barrier (and JD & Coke with lager haze! :o) and record a really good win against Geoff. Well played both of you! 8-) ;D

....................this time in the Guernsey Open.
1. The mighty BB Warrior : Semi-finalist in the Plate Competition. The BB Warrior also has 'bragging rights' in having made his England debut. 8-) 8-) 8-) (Well for the 'B' team in the friendly international against Guernsey) And he seized his moment with both hands, winning both his frames and obviously the bonus point for aggregate.
2. The 'mighty atom' Margo - winning her first round Plate with a good score for off-the-spot, but then succumbing to eventual winner Sue Mariner.
Unfortunately any 'tommo exploits' have no place on this board as to his shame he was entered from Surrey. :-[
Well done to Dave and Margo for flying the flag for Mid Sussex. 8-)

Quarter-Finalist in the main competition, including beating one of the Guernsey B Players, the (not-so-mighty, lets put him in the Plate :'( ;D) BB Warrior and Dave (30 hole) Hampton before losing to the eventual winner Nigel Senior. Great performance Clive! ;D Also selected for the Invitation match against the Guernsey B Team, where he won both of his games to take maximum points as well. 8-) Well done to Margo as well who put up a good battle against Sue Mariner, who later beat me in the semi-final before going on to win the final against Steven Sheard. A great weekend, hopefully some more from Mid-Sussex will go along next year to fly the flag with us....... ;)

Congratulations tommo (you are still a Mid Sussex player regardless of who you choose to represent) and Warrior, also to Margo for making a good fight of it. 8-)
I hope we can join you next year - having persuaded Sir T to go to Jersey, Bournemouth and Portsmouth this year, Guernsey was just one tournament too far!
