Watermill A 2 Hurst Club 3
Kim Stenning B/P - 2750 The Old Fella Roy off to a solid start and although Kim nearly caught him up at the end the final 200 wouldn't have been enough anyway! 0-1 :)
Chris Nikolaj 3570 - 1020 Papa Hall A good game from Chris with Pete never able to get going. 1-1 :(
John Willis 4060 - B/P Bobhall Rob off early and John took full advantage with a good 3k break to secure a comfortable victory. 2-1 :(
Norman Cragg 2250 - 7110 BB Warrior Norman off early and, riding my luck a couple of times, I managed to get a break of just under 4k. Norman got the break back, but left the one up short allowing me to get another 2.5k break to make sure of the win. 2-2 ;D
John Staplehurst 1160 - 2520 BB Reaper Although Kevin missed his second split shot at just over 1k, he was always comfortably in the lead to secure the win and the match. ;)
The table played well at the front, trickier at the back, thanks to Norman making some adjustments earlier in the evening which levelled it out considerably.
As always an enjoyable evening with the Watermill boys, lots of chicken, roasties and garlic bread too....!! ;D

CKRBL 3, Handcross Z 2 The draw threw up some interesting clashes. The normally reliable Ted Stringer was second-best to an ultra careful Supersub Daniels; tommo after a particularly gruelling day at work full of meetings and having to look after visitors had nothing left to give against a steady Shaky Coles; Jenny Edwards made a MAGNIFICENT comeback against Mick Holmwood to snatch her frame - which later proved decisive. Peter Edwards struggled out of character to make an impression against an in-form John Turner. And we were then treated to a gripping decider, with both Del and Barry digging deep and overtaking each other throughout the proceedings. And it was Derek on the table at the right time at the end. Competitive and enjoyable. Well done to the Clayton & Keymer, particularly to Jenny. 8-) Ted 1160, Graham 4650 Mark 4280, tommo 1670 Jenny 2290, Mick 1590 Peter BP, John T 2410 Derek 3830, Barry 3180 POSTSCRIPT: Someone have a word with Shaky please about bar billiards etiquette - it's bad enough standing in the way of the opponent each time when it's his turn at the table, but to request a vodka and coke afterwards as well is adding insult to injury.............. Well it was my turn last night to be stung, but I wasn't having any of it ! When my cheery offer of a drink was met with "I'll just have . . . . . . . . a vodka and coke" my terse reply was "you can have a vodka OR a coke. But not both. Which is it to be ?" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Does anyone blame me ?

Sportsman 3 Windmill 2
Sir Trevor 1700 Russell Jennings 2350 Ros 3260 Mike White 1540 Rob Driver 3570 Anne Stockinger 1060 Pam Peacock 1660 Jan Hinkins 780 Tiny Driver 2030 Steve Smith 6050
Another cracking performance from Lady Pamela to seal the match.
Lots of friendly banter and good company. :)
No sandwiches tonight, but instead a huge bowl of scampi with Thai sweet chilli sauce, butcher's sausages, filo prawns, chips, pitta bread and dips. 8-) Hardly a crumb left afterwards to tell the tale!
The Sportsman closes tomorrow for one week for refurbishment, just in case anyone has a game drawn there (or was planning to drop in)

Hurst 'B' 1 Brewers Droops 4 Ian Giffen won against Colin Humphrey Darrell Skinner lost to Andy Farmer-Wright Chris Kirkham lost to Graham Sparksman John Lear lost to Lorraine Hall Steve King lost to Richard Jeffrey No scores, will leave the write up to Richard Great evening, good host & great food And the scores on the doors were Ian 'scraped it again' Giffen 2490 Colin 'cinders' Humphrey 2240 Good tight opening match this one, with neither player able to get a solid advantage, Giffers nipping in at the end with a good steal. :P Darrell 'bloody hell' Skinner 4130 Andy 'what a player' Farmer Wright 4650 Another cracking match this one, Dazzler leading of with a solid break, Andy pegging his reply, then whilst over 4k behind and with no points on the board Andy played the table out with 4650 to win the match, brilliant stuff!!! ;D Chris 'good game, good game' Kirkham Graham '**!/!!?*' Sparksman 1790 Well what can I say about this one, tight, close fought with both players struggling to keep scores, Graham pegged 2k breaks at least twice but stayed in front to take the 1st divisioners into the lead. ;D ;D John 'thats the way it go's' Lear 4450 Lorraine 'thats the way to do it' Hall 4470
And onto the match of the night, John played superbly leading of with 1500ish I think, mama Hall promptly replying with 2k, John hitting back with another 2k, then with Mama Hall a couple of grand behind, she got the break back and played the table out to steal it on the last ball, brilliant game. ;D ;D ;D Steven 'didn't score enough' King 2110 Jock 'scored plenty' Jeffrey 7020 Onto the last with yours truly only making 1200 off his opening break against the mighty King who promptly got the break back and I put my cue down, Steve put himself in front with that break but broke down alot sooner than I expected, I got the break back for the second time for onother 1000ish, but once I got it a third time I was off and played the time out with a break of 4k+ to take the win. ;D ;D ;D ;D A great night with the Top of Div one dishing out some white van man treatment to the Top of The Prem. ;D ;D Superb company one and all, no screaming children which was a real bonus!! And a great spread by Marrion ;) :D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Almost right Jock. But you failed to mention the supurb shot from noddy with the ball touching the peg which he just battered saying oh F*** it & the cleared the peg & put both balls down to get the break back leaving the whole room espesially my self opened mouthed or as most would say gobsmacked ;D ;D
Apart from that an excellent report John & Darrell were very unlucky. Supurb games from both Andy & Lorraine to give you an easy ride in the 5th.
Great night but a dissaster for us but that's Billiards.

Doh!!! :-/ Agreed I think everyone in the room was utterly gobsmacked, :o :o and to be fair so was noddy. :o I'm not even sure he was looking at the shot when he played, see sometimes a little frustrated blood rush is just what you need. Apart from that he played a good game despite having burned himself badly (read stupidly here) whilst mig welding!! :'( That'll teach him to wear a mask ;)
