Greyhound 3 CKRBL 2
Geoff Fairs 5960 Ted Stringer 2740 Neil Burchell 5820 Peter Edwards 3790 Keith Newsam 3030 Derek Taylor 3790 Trevor Rees 8050 Mark Coles 1990 Peter Burchell 1520 Jenny Edwards 2680
A win for us against strong opposition keeps both teams in the hunt for the league title.
Geoff played a very good opener against Ted. Neil missed the opening break but was able to get it back later and take full advantage. Keith and Derek had a very close game with Derek getting the break back late on to play out for a win. I went off with 5k with Marks reply looking good until he broke down at 1800, from then on it went my way. Peter lost a 1500 break with a miscue fairly early on and never recovered with Jenny playing a steady game for a deserved win.
A pleasant evening with good company.

With the Greyhound's excellent win, things are definitely closing at the top: The leaders could only manage 2pts as well, so only 2pts cover the top three teams, and the Greyhound and Plough are still in touch as they have a game in hand.
Handcross Z 3, Hurst B 2
Alan Downs 2610, John Lear 4850 MrMike007 3330, Darrell Skinner 2200 John Turner 2130, Ian Giffen 1880 Graham Daniels 5030, Chris Kirkham 670 tommo 4460, Steve King 4920
Good game the last one, tommo thought his luck was in when Steve missed the break early on, and set about banking just under 4k. But Steve hauled back the deficit in three breaks, tommo losing the game on his back-of-the-table play.
At least this keeps our old stablemates top with 81pts, and thanks to them for a nice evening (apart from Liverpool losing >:()

Hurst Club A 4 Watermill B 1
BB Warrior 6280 - B/P Tony Williams Tony pegged his opening break allowing me to put in a 3k reply. He was also called later in the game for playing a shot before a ball had dropped while I kept the scoreboard ticking over to make sure of the win. 1-0 ;D
The Old Fella 1570 - 2570 Martin Range Martin hit his highest score this season playing a solid game to level the match with Roy having very little luck. 1-1 :(
Papa Hall 2720 - 1430 Sabina Williams Sabina played some good shots, although she was also called for playing a shot before a ball had dropped, while Pete never really hit top form but did enough to take the win. 2-1 :)
BB Reaper 10250 - 440 Paul Blackburn Kevin on fine form with 3 breaks around the 3k mark, keeping Paul off the table for most of the game. Well played Kev! 3-1 ;)
Bobhall 5810 - 770 Gavin Boyd Gavin found the top a lot faster than the Watermill and put the break down 4 times, Rob was quick to take advantage and put in a very well built 3k break later in the game in his best performance of the year! 4-1 ;D
A good win to keep up our chase on the leading Droops, enjoyable evening ending in a Bobhall Banquet and a game of 31, unusually won by the Reaper.....!! :o ;)

Very sorry for putting my shirt over my head when we scored. Thehappyone. Beat me to it Shaun! Perhaps not the best of nights to play at a venue with 3 large screens on Sky Sports! ;) It was standing room only at St Francis, it was packed. Most of the drama and tension was thespecialone (wearing an appropriate special one shirt) getting whacked with an enormous red flag while he was playing - it seemed to spur him on ;) I didn't get a thank you for pulling his name out to play most of his game during half time though ::) ;) A great evening with some good conversation after the footie and a lovely spread of sandwiches sausages and chips, more than we could manage to eat :)

This is how close it is - a more competent performance from tommo and all three teams would have been tied at the top on 80pts. >:( 8-) 8-)

Brewers Droops 4 Brewers Bravos 1
The Droops stay top for awhile longer!!!!
Jock 'needed another 15 seconds' Jeffrey 3270 Adam 'he's gonna catch me' Bateup 3480 :( :D Bit of a nightmare game this one, with Adam leading off and then pegging his break, I got the break back in the next shot but only managed a paltry 600, I lead for most of the match until Adam slipped in a 2k+ break, I finally got the break back at the end, but ran out of time, played the table out and sank the last in the 200 but wasn't enough, frustratingly table normally plays around 17 mins but all games averaged around 16 mins last night. 0-1
Andy 'never looked like losing' Farmer Wright 3740 Lynne 'another treble barreled name' Moyes Robb 2140 :D >:( Closer than it looked this one, Andy lead off but broke down at 1200 or so, Lynne kept the pressure on him throughout the match, but Andy stayed tough and won through it appeared hard work for the big man. 1-1
Lorraine 'that table is playing lovely' Hall 4270 Nicki 'I don't know what I'm doing' Hinkins 370 :D :D :( Mama Hall proved just too much for the young and upcoming Nicki, who on several occasions asked 'what am I doing' after a shot was missed. Mama Hall played very well on a vastly improving table racking up the highest score of the night thus far. 2-1
Graham 'thats more like it' Sparksman 6240 Dave 'you were lucky this time' Swinbank 1990 :D :D ;D :( Not to be out done by Mama Hall sparky went off on one in this tie, finally finding some form on the often maligned home top, breaks of 3k and 2k saw off young Swinbank who to his credit didn't do much wrong. 3-1
Colin 'we don't like to see that' Humphrey 3020 Paul 'not another treble barreled name' Moyes Robb 2530 :D :D :D ;D :( Paul leading of with the break but not hitting much something around the 400 mark I think, Col played well and scored well capitalizing on Paul knocking over more pegs than he wanted too. A good tight tense match this one with Col staying front for most of it. Paul battled hard but to no avail ole noddy was just too good in the end. 4-1
A good night with most of us enjoying the noise created by the resident Liverpool fans in the pub, and of course the one solitary Chelsea one, whom to be fair to him was making more noise than anyone else. :P :P A difficult night to concentrate to be absolutely honest, ??? and as I am a life long Liverpool fan :o :o I found it especially hard going, to not only play, ;) but score :-/ throughout the tense extra time finish. :o No excuses though I had more than enough chances to win. And better the only loser than the only winner I always say. ;) ;)
A great chilli once more laid on from Wendy (I personally managed 4 bowls of it) and the banter and barricking was of top quality, with me on most of the receiving end for change. Top played better than it has done all season, so a big thank you to those persons whom (with only the mildest of threats from the white van man) have elected to leave it alone. Which has allowed those who do know what they are doing to get on and do it. Still whippy at the top end but hey it'll do right? ;D ;D ;D ;D

There was plenty of experience on hand to stop from taking the win. I was gutted lossing to JT by just 300 in my usual close games this time it went away from me ;D
