Well, that's how the song goes. ;) Fast forward one year........DA has met her dream fella, who's bought her an Audi TT (see separate thread on 'Ambitions'). And she disguises it with a load of fins etc to make it look like the Batmobile ! Job done ! ;D

Nice car, think of all the fun the vandals will have with that. ..............not to mention the Chancellor of the Exchequer. ::) Agree nice car, though. But I'd have that hideous spoiler off for a start, and maybe fit some Borla exhausts. ;D

It's no good having a great car without going on a course to learn how to drive it.
I've been on the Prodrive day three times now: Cornering at 80 on the fast circuit, racing up to hazards and stopping at the last minute, getting 'lift-off' on the go-kart circuit, and performing 360 degree turns on the skidpan, to name but a few things they have you doing.
It's the most fun I've ever had with my clothes on.

.........and now confession time.
The second time I went, there weren't enough instructors to go round and we had to share sessions. I had to sit in the back of an absolute nutter's car while he took it round the high-speed circuit and seemed to be doing his best to roll it at the corners.
Something like this:
I was scared sh!tless !
When it came to my turn, with him in the back, my driving was more like the lady's in the first clip. :-[

KITT drives himself..........and he has tintable windows so you don't have to keep yer clothes on....... :o :-* p.s. thank you Johnny, i'm glad someone agrees ! i have the complete box set and i think KITT would look great outside my house ! :P

and i think KITT would look great outside my house ! :P It's bad enough trying to find a parking space within half-a-mile of the Moneyfields Sports and Social Club, without a thing like that taking up two valuable ones. ;D ;D

:-/ ::) i'm offended ! - KITT isn't a thing. he's a beatuiful machine that has feelings and stuff. as for moneyfields i'm sure KITT could drop me off and go home - about a mile away from there ! so you can have a space tommo. :-* besides, if you get there early as i did it's not too bad........ 8-)

Sorry if I offended you personally, but the idea of a car with a mind of its own............well I've driven too many of those in the past. ::)
From its aerodynamics, KITT looks like your stereotypical long sports car that would be great in a straight line but useless on the bends.
And I've test-driven cars (eg Ferrari; Nissan 240Z) that are frugal over the comforts and are like sitting inside an orange box.
Having said that, though, KITT's interior looks luxurious and stunning. 8-)

KITT is a modified Trans-Am which, like nearly all of the American "muscle cars" that have had their limiters removed and engines uprated is pretty quick in straight lines...... but pretty awful round bends - especially in the wet - unless you are VERY good at drifting of course! :o ::)
Personally, if I was going to choose a "high performance" car that could also be a (fairly) practical car for daily use, I would have to go for another Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. ;D ;)
I've now had 4 of these in a row, although sold my last one back in December last year......... handling is awesome, practical 4 door 5 seater saloon with plenty of luggage space, well specified (although basic to look at) interior...... 8-) 8-)
Back that up with........
Choice of engine power....... starting at about 300bhp! 8-) (my last one was uprated to just over 420bhp, although I fitted further modifications for track days that meant she then offered 560bhp - more than enough to munch up the track Porsche's at Thruxton! ;D ;D ;D)
0-60mph in 4.4 seconds :o (Fully modified on mine - 3.5 seconds! ;D)
Max Speed - limited to 155mph (Mine was officially clocked at 192mph on the main straight at Thruxton after modifications! ;D
Fuel consumption - overall about 24mpg (Don't ask about mine at Thruxton - the fuel gauge went down as fast as the rev-counter went up!! :o :'()
I'm currently thinking about getting the new Evolution X which has just come out....... will hopefully sort out a drive in one soon - when I've managed to save up a few pennies for fuel!! ;D

::) ::) ::) there's always one............ ;)
;D i was 'offended' on KITT's behalf ! point taken however - he is a pontiac trans am - very low, very long, very wide. but in america everything is bigger - including the roads ! i agree he wouldn't do too well over here, but he would LOOK fantastic !
looks aren't everything i know (! ;)), but he's been an idol of mine for years.... :-[
and only 21k on the clock.....
he went for $53000....... :'( :'( :'(

It's what Margo was building up to too, having had two XR3i's. But then we turned fifty and somehow got a sense of our own mortality. Nowadays comfort beats speed for consideration. I know exactly the speed at which my bottle goes and I have to ease off the throttle, which is 138mph precisely, and for that reason I once shunned a burn-up back from a match in Redhill with Vernon in his Supra: one of us would have got killed ! ::) 24mpg ain't bad, btw, my car only does 22. >:(

Which probably explains why I am now driving a people carrier instead of my Evo....... Fantastic for taking the kids around, or trips to the dump....... but absolutely zero smile factor!! :'( :'( :'(

Label is a euphemism for what, exactly, because I definitely heard something go bump.

euphemism for the price tag fell off - hence having to ask the cost ! i worry when things go 'bump', especially in the night..... ;)
