A great evening at The Threehorseshoes on a table that mainly was done no justice by the combatants. Football on the telly, cheese/egg sandwiches, chips and chicken wings. KT at the bar sweating on Manchester United and accepting they had a poor second half.
Well done to the Duke of Wellington B on capping what has been a good season for them, by beating the Scooner 3-2. Fittingly it all went to the last game, although certain players will be cursing it got that far.
All games even break, with the Wellington going first in 1/3/5.
Game One. Nick Simmonds leaves both short on his first one up shot, off at 300. Dave Anscombe off at 1k, then it was a battle that Nick won by better clearing abilities. 3680-1760 1-1.
Game Two. Tony Jenner starts off well and looked set for a good one, caught split thick at 4k and didn`t retreive break. John Perrin off at just over 1k, from there both players struggled at top end, Reggie kept closing gap, untl he got breakback with 3 minutes to go. Scored enough to win, but with for balls in tray, missed right hand 50 on break, ball went awkward and on tryig to touch up Reggie took the peg out handing an undeseved vitory to TJ. 3930-4320 1-1.
Game Three. Tim Scotney off with 500. Rick off with 100, and then it was a battle that the table was the real winner. Tim doing enough to make sure of the spoils. 4590-2750 2-1.
Game Four. Bill Kerr starts with 4900, Pete Brown not getting hold of the table, Bill then controlled the game by keeping the table loaded. 1590-5490. 2-2.
Game Five. Mark Senior off cheaply, Arthur Brewster only replies with 1k. Then again the table took control, Arthur unable to retreive the break whatever he tried, Mark did and made sure. 4180-2690 3-2.
Thanks to the Horseshoes for their hospitality as usual, to the pool players for not playing during the match, and to the Wellington for making it a great evening.
