Dyke B 2 -3 Brewery Tap A
The Tap win the double for the first time with victory over Dyke B in TKO cup final
Terry Molloy 1,210* - 6,970 Nigel Senior
Terry Race 6,650 - 3,370* Richard Wooton
Terry Coghlan 2,890* - 4,050 Chris Reeves
Mick Hall 960 – 12,280* Gareth Lloyd
Mark Scott 2,830* - 2,020 Marc Chipman
Game 1 – Molloy on first, but was soon off allowing Nigel in to make a 4k break. Both players struggled at the back of the table, until Nigel finally got the break back with 4 minutes left and he made enough to clinch the game. 0-1
Game 2 – Richard made little impact on his opener, and Racey followed him by unbelievably leaving both balls short on the break with barely 1,000 on the board. Richard got them back but a second thin split saw him off, Racey settled this time to make 5k and level the match at 1-1
Game 3 – A pivotal game where both players struggled, Chris Reeves managed to put the one up behind 4 times! However he left them fairly awkward each time he did and Terry C was unable to capitalise and Chris crucially put the Tap 2-1 up
Game 4 – Gareth had been intently watching the final of the champions League, supporting his beloved ManU before going on to play leg 4. It was probably a good thing he hadn’t really watched the other players struggle as he made a cracking 12k break with little problem. Mick Hall tried in vain to save the matck on the equal time rule but only made 960 in reply and the cup was on its way to the Tap. 1-3
Game 5 – The last game was a bit of a damp squid with the match already decided. Marc lost a break that would have probably won him the game, but Moppy came through at the end to make the final score 2-3.
A good night at the Schooner, thanks for the great hospitality laid on by the friendly landlady. The table much more playable than the last time I played it, with Lloydy proving that with his opening break.
