An intrepid and depleted Sportsman team of four travelled to Handcross to take on the league champions in their lair! Their chivalrous captain promptly offered to lend us a drawn player for the evening, as they had six.
It caused a certain amount of amusement when I picked tommo's name out of the hat to be the "ringer" for the Sportsman!
Margo quickly took on the captaincy of Handcross though and a very good fun evening was had by all.
I will list the results in the order that games were played:
Margo 580 Pam 1580 Mr Mike007 4610 Ros 3560 Barry Timson 5310 Sir Trevor 2440 Supersub Graham 2320 Tony Driver 3400
So there we were at 2 all, with the opposition's captain charged with winning the decider for us! He then gave me the classic cop-out of "I'm no good at winning the decider if we're at 2 all" - so as his captain for the night I cracked the whip at him :P
John Haigh went off with a great 3k break, but after messing around at the back for a few goes, tommo retrieved the break and put up a grand, then a couple of goes later got it back again to play the table out. Well played Clive, if you need that decider on finals night, you know you can win it!
John Haigh 3630 tommo 7340
The Handcross top was playing brilliantly, the sandwiches were good and plentiful, the company was great, we're certainly up for a repeat pair of friendlies during the summer. :)

Thank you Ros, it was indeed an enjoyable evening.
Nice to be able to relax and not have the burden of captaincy for a change. But at the same time, we've kept our eye in for the Finals Night coming up next week, whereas everyone else of course will be 'rusty' ;D (he says, hopefully).
We might not have the best table in the league just yet (that privilege goes unequivocally to Hurstpierpoint) but between the Sportsman and Handcross I reckon we have second and third place sewn up...

Very wishful thinking Tommo............!!! ;) ;D :o We might not have the best table in the league just yet (that privilege goes unequivocally to Hurstpierpoint) but between the Sportsman and Handcross I reckon we have second and third place sewn up... Not forgetting the Greyhound which has always been a good table as well.....! ;D
