Hurst 1 Swan B 4 First leg held last night saw a close encounter despite the score line. Iang 3390 Brian Richards 5000 I was in front for most of the leg, Brian pegged 1000 on a split shot but then retrieved the break in the last part of the game & chased down my lead with a 4K break Darrell Skinner 4870 Roger Taylor 7360 Roger came off early and Darrell also gained a 3K advantage again with the best part of the clock gone Roger settled down to a fine 5K break to deny Hurst another leg :'( :'( Graham Sparksman 280 Barry Holt 13770 Sparky didn't stand a chance as Barry compiled a 8K then a 5K break Steve King 7170 Matt Squire 3330 At last Steve gained a leg in his usual manner ;D Chris Kirkham 1770 Doug Mahy 7380 Doug claimed the last after watching his team mates with the second 7K score of the night.
A good night all round no complaints & I'm looking forward to the return leg provisional date Sunday 10th August

Stadium 3 CKRBL 2
Charlie Cooper 10310 - 690 Dilly Williamson Charlie off early and then lost a 2k+ break as well but Dilly couldn't take advantage. Charlie then hit a good 5k break and then came back for more. 1-0 :(
Gina Sherratt 2560 - 2680 Peter Edwards Neither Pete or Gina got going at all with Pete just doing enough to stay out of reach at the end of the game. 1-1 ;D
Edge Butler B/P - 9460 Henry Brooks Henry struggled to get to grips with the whippy pockets to start with but then settled down to put together a series of mid-sized breaks to make sure of the win. 1-2 ;D
Micky Pope 9390 - 1230 Derek Taylor Excellent opening 6k break from Micky with Derek unable to get the break back. 2-2 :(
Alan Messer 9720 - 6880 David Ingram I missed my first split and Alan hit a good 6k. I broke down on 3k, Alan hit another 3k and I ran out of time chasing..... 3-2 :'(
Enjoyable evening at the Stadium with the match nicely poised for the second leg tomorrow evening. ;D

CKRBL 3 Stadium 2 ;D
Dilly Williamson 4400 - 1810 Edge Butler A couple of breaks from Dilly put him in front with Edge unable to get the break back. 1-0 ;D
David Ingram 3620 - 3060 Charlie Cooper A close game with Charlie in front for much of the time before I managed to get the break back and do enough.... 2-0 ;)
Pete Edwards 3200 - 4240 Micky Pope Both players had chances..... Micky made more of them than Pete did. 2-1 :(
Derek Taylor 5470 - 2020 Gina Sherratt A useful 3k break by Derek in the middle of the game put him in control with Gina unable to close the gap. 3-1 ;D
Henry Brooks 2240 - 3740 Alan Messer A couple of breaks from Alan put him in front with Henry struggling at the top of the table. 3-2 :(
And so to the decider......
David Ingram 2580 - 5650 Alan Messer Alan won the toss and went off with the biggest break of the night (4k+) while I was only able to reply with about 1500. Alan managed to keep the gap the same with me unable to get the break back. :( :'(
Stadium win 6-5 overall, many thanks for 2 enjoyable evenings, well played and good luck in the semi-finals. ;D

Sounds like a good match, and by the scores the top still a challenge. How it should be down to decider keeps the nerves on edge.

Sounds like a good match, and by the scores the top still a challenge. How it should be down to decider keeps the nerves on edge. The table at CKRBL isn't an "easy" top but it does offer a fair challenge to players from both teams. We had to adjust it to run downhill slightly last night as the break was nearly impossible when we got there, the down side of that was that the one up was then hard to leave in a position to be able to split and the back of the table became very hard to get the balls back..... ::) :( It meant that most of the games were very close throughout the evening and you had to make the most of any opportunities that came along. Alan played the decider very well indeed under pressure, helped maybe a little bit by winning the toss and breaking first having just come off the table after playing the last game of the match. ;) :P

Brewery Tap 9-1 Gardeners
First leg @ Gardeners
Neil Higgins 8,260* - 2,300 Nigel Senior Gary Ridley 1,560 - 4,680* Marc Chipman Nick Brown 0 - 7,070* Chris Reeves Tony Burgess 1,350* - 7,510 Richard Wooton Paul Barnett 880 - 8,990* Gareth Lloyd
2nd leg @ Duke of Wellington
Nigel Senior 12,720* - 1,800 Neil higgins Richard Wooton 4,600 - 3,720* Nick Brown Steve Mariner 4,540 - 3,390* Paul Barnett Chris Reeves 10,080* - 770 Tony Burgess Gareth Lloyd 8,760 - 6,180* Gary Ridley
Gardeners will be disappointed not to do better at home after winning the first leg. Second match played at the Duke, where the draw was kind to the home team as only two legs were needed and breaks went to the two home players Nigel & Chris. Nige & Chris won with 10k+ scores but Rich, Steve and Gareth completed the whitewash with good wins against.

Swan B V Hurst Club 2nd round Hurst beat Swan 3 - 2 but loose 6 - 4 overall
I promised Doug he would have a fight on his hands ;D & we almost pushed it to the decider if only we could have got another leg at home :'(
Matt Squire 9440 Ian G 1160 I was unable to take advantage of Matt pegging his opening break & eventually he fired in a 5K break finding the split to his team mates releif.
Doug Mahy 4410 Sparky 4690 Doug off to an early lead but Sparky chased him down & just went ahead as the bar dropped Doug needed the 200 to win but left it short Brian Richards 2030 Darrell Skinner 2430 A real up & down game with no one really getting hold of it, but Darrell put put us 2 - 1 up Phil Oakly 2000 John ( King ) Lear 2640 John Gave us the win by this time the live music was in full swing & there were people coming through the door all the time. Barry Holt 15150 Steve King 750 both off to a shaky start barry got 700 & steve replied with 500 missing both balls on the split, but barry being the nominated 6th player was in no mood to play another game soon settleted down & sealed it with a very nice 9K break & final score of 15150 excellent play well done Barry.
Thanks to Doug & the boys good luck in the next round. Ian :'( :'( :'( ;D ;D ;D ;D
