It has recently become apparent that what we are lacking is a "ready reckoner" calendar of AEBBA- run events which are coming up. I have lifted this from the "Tournament Dates" thread and made it a 'sticky'. Right this is what I got from the AGM today Opens Oxon - 16th Feb Portsmouth - 13th April Sussex - 8th June Kent - 13th July Bucks - 10th Aug Berks - 7th Sept Jersey - 8th/9th Nov Surrey ? Northants ? All England Events Bournemouth Pairs - 7th-9th Mar County Champs Div 1 & 2 - 21st Sept Ladies County & AE Mens - 28th Sept County Champs Div 3 & AE Ladies - 5th Oct National Team - 19th Oct Alternative Rules - 26th Oct Mixed Pairs & under 25s - 23rd Nov Grand Prix/ Ladies Grand Prix/ Over 50's & 60's - 30th Nov 2008 AGM - 7th Dec

So here is everything that has either been and gone, or is still to come, for this year, in chronological order:
Oxon Open - 16th Feb Bournemouth Pairs - 7th-9th Mar Portsmouth Open - 13th April Guernsey Open - 4th May Sussex Open - 8th June Kent Open - 13th July Bucks Open - 10th Aug Berks Open - 7th Sept County Champs Div 1 & 2 - 21st Sept Ladies County & AE Mens - 28th Sept County Champs Div 3 & AE Ladies - 5th Oct National Team - 19th Oct Alternative Rules - 26th Oct World Championships (Jersey) - 8th/9th Nov Mixed Pairs & under 25s - 23rd Nov Grand Prix/ Ladies Grand Prix/ Over 50's & 60's - 30th Nov 2008 AGM - 7th Dec
Perhaps when Sav and Nigel have time, these dates can be listed on the AEBBA Website's Front page for the sake of aesthetic appearance. ;)

Is it possible to keep the list updated so that comps are deleted once they have been played and new dates put in when they are known. Eg 2009 dates for Sussex Surrey Portsmouth Kent and Guernsey open are known so these could be put on. As long as someone informed you of the dates as soon as they were finalised it would help us to arrange dates for our own leagues.

What I was planning to do, Jean, was to put a 2009 list up as soon as they have been ratified by the AEBBA in Dec.
I'm sure there is a better way of making it all visible, and that Nigel would have arranged it, but we are disadvantaged in that he has given up the Tournament Directorship.
What I can do, based on your suggestion, is add the known 2009 dates to the foot, maybe in a different colour, or italics and have the current ones in bold. You know these better than me at the moment, so we'll have another look when you've collated your information.

We have not deleted them once passed. Only Global Mods etc have access privs for that. If members want items deleted once passed then fine. I have asked Brian Daniels to supply calendar dates as he seems the obvious central resource of knowledge, the Sussex dates can be added. Sav

Are you talking about the Forum calendar, here, Sav ? That works very well at tracking birthdays, but I seem to be the only one bothering with updating it with AEBBA events.
What the likes of Jean and myself are after, is a simple one-page reckoner, so that we can plan our diaries round these major events.

ANY registered member can add items to it, only yourselves and us can modify entries. The problem is thus shortage of entries or knowledge that any member can add stuff. If Brian supplies the dates overall, I will set up a link to the AEBBA site. If you click on 'View all events' you get a nice list. I've also talked to Dave Alder about AEBBA updates and re-enabled access and reset his account for him. Hopefully there might be a bit more from our goberning body. Chris

Just a list like above perhaps pinned at the top of the tournaments board so anyone trying to arrange dates for their own leagues can see quickly which dates to avoid. Obviously only AEBBA events and Opens.
The 2009 dates i have so far are
19.04.09 Portsmouth Open 07.06.09 Sussex Open 03.05.09 Guernsey Open 10.05.09 Surrey Open

Chris Ah, I see now: If you a) click on the AEBBA badge at the bottom of this page; b) enter site and select home page; and c) choose the second green box along from the left at the top and select competition diary, this is what you get : www.aebba.org/a_competition_diary.shtmlSo it's there after all. 8-)

Great idea guys. However is it possible if you have to change any dates, could they be highlighted.
