Sorry, but it IS a pub game, not life and death.
I assure you that it is a passion for me too, and has been for 32 years, illustrated by driving 60 miles each way for a home game.
I am sure Snooker was a passion for Paul Hunter but let's put it all into perspective. There are much more important things in life and, if you really get that nervous, you will need to calm yourself down if you are ever to truly see it through to my prediction of becoming England captain one day.

And by the way - Pete does not like to get his predictions wrong.(This is more about him than you, Jonny!!)

What was it Bill Shankly once said, "Football is not a matter of life and death - It's far more important than that !"
I'm with Johnny on this one - b/bs is not just a game, it's more of a religion for some of us. As Johnny observed so astutely yesterday "tommo has sold his soul to the Forum". A very subtle reference to my claim to have a similar pathological interest into the history of the game as Alastair Crowley has in voodoo. He may play the dumb blond sometimes, but his head is screwed on the right way. Fazza on the other hand reminds me of the disciple Peter who kept denying he knew our Lord - three times before the cock crowed. Verily, verily, I say unto thee Peter, come judgement day the words bar billiards will be found etched on your heart - along with the words "official National rankings". ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I so like you Tommo - very rare is it such fine words are spoken.

I think I feel sick.
Elsie: please avoid leaving the H out of Johnny, he does not like it. Clive: I am purely trying to keep things in perspective. Nobody should get "That" nervous when they are doing something they enjoy. If you are taking your driving test, taking your A-levels or waiting to hear if your girlfriend is pregnant, then you SHOULD be nervous. But NOT if you are playing a game!!!!
And Clive, how many more subjects are you such an expert in? Now it's religious education, bordering on philosophy.

This thread (9 pages) has yet to join football anyone (8 pages) in the Hall Of Fame. What has the poor thread got to do to gain the recognition it deserves? 34. Forum Owner the Chubbster neglecting all of us. He logs in from time to time - we can see him - and just lets all of us run riot over HIS forum. And instead of attending to us and admitting the two obvious candidate threads into the Hall of Fame like we're clamouring for, off he goes last night and plays Interleague bar billiards ! Well, at least now we know where his priorities lie. ;) ;) ;)

Elsie can spell my name how he wants, however I spell it with a H. I wouldn't say I dislike it! Pete I do get nervous because of my passion, you might not. I love Bar Billiards and to me it is a "Life & Death" situation, I am not asking for people to accept this, as I know others see it as "just a pub game".

Your a Moderator Q :o Just hit the little icon that says 'combine two threads' ::) Even I as a Global (tart) Moderator do not have the power to make wine out of water and combine these two threads. 'There can be only one' as the saying goes and 'My Master' doesn't seem to be around much these days.

You had the right idea the first time, IMHO, Sav when you awarded this thread Hall of Fame Status: 11 pages, 202 replies and 1,706 views seems good justification. 8-)
Nothing would be lost now if you returned it to its deserving place: the only one who kicked up about it was Pete, he has been paid lip-service :-* with numerous apologies, and we now have a follow-on thread which we can post to.
Surely it would be neater and tidier and less confusing to "file" the famous old thread, and only have the new one to post on ?
What does everyone else think ?

Post by fazza on Oct 25, 2006 6:33:23 GMT
Yes, I know, I know.
I know I had a moan when this famous thread disappeared, but the whole point about starting the thread initially was to have a moan, wasn't it?
But it also highlighted the fact to even the modulators, sorry moderators, that once the thread is "credited" to Hall of Fame status, it is well and truly locked to us mere mortals.
They have admitted that even THEY did not know that, and they are gods!
So SOME good came out of my little whinge.
So, if you want to move it back, please do so with my blessing, if only to please old Clive. It may even keep him away from his encyclopaedias. So there's another blessing!
