Regg3y put forward an interesting idea for next seasons summer league. One of the flaws of a handicap system is that although the games and matches are closer the actual games still can be a case of the lesser player sitting and watching whilst the better player has to catch up a big defecit. So if someone was chasing 8k they would need probably around 12k to put the game safe leaving little actual playing time for the other player.
Regg3y idea is to set a limit for top players so that they can only make a set score in any one visit. This could be 3k, 5k or whatever and could be different for different strength players. Players would still have handicaps but these would have to be lowered to compensate for the extra visits needed to get good scores.
I will give it some thought for next year as the actual system will need to be thought through and it certainly has its merits. I will, however, listen to any thoughts and suggestions, especially, those who participated in this years league and whether we need to make some changes.
