I have just heard this evening that The Grapes in Pease Pottage has been sold and will be closing soon, no news on whats happening but my guess would be a housing development.
The question is.... who owns the bar billiard table and where is it going? the table wasn't bad considering it had no regular players to brush/iron/adjust it. With a little bit of TLC it would be a VERY nice top for someone

Q despite living 300 miles away remains so clued in that he a) is able to make the League see sense; and b) knows of Crawley pub closures before those us us who live in the town. ;D ;D
Sad news indeed at the end of an era for the Grapes. Two of the Zeds (Daniels and Downs) used to play for the pub when it was in the Crawley League and the rest of us (Barry, John, me) remember playing against them !
Somewhat unfortunately it has been passed over as a possible venue for the last twenty years, mainly because the pub was too pokey (no room to swing a cat ;D :o), certainly it would have been a tight fit playing a match in that bar. (It was okay when in the saloon.)
The table had a Tarratts label on it, so no doubt will be reclaimed by them.

I enjoyed playing there a couple of years ago when we played our house comp every other week. Yes it was quite a good table don't think it will fit in my dining room !!!

Chris Kirkham, Dazza and me played out of the Grapes for many years as part of Norman Haynes team. Also amongst the kindred were Dick Deadman and Andy East. It was a damned good table when it was in its proper place.
