Brewers Droops Beat Brewers Bravo's 3-2 (just)Newly promoted Droops got of to a shaky start against the 'B'? team. Mama 'this table's not being nice' Hall 1500 Lyn 'nearly' Moyes - Robb 1350A good hard tough tense match for the opener, Mama Hall managing to peg more points than she scored, which meant Lyn needed to keep the red ball up at the last but couldn't. Andy 'don't iron the table' FW 3890 Richard 'spud' Spurrier 760Another solid performance from the captain, who only really looked like losing when he lost his opening 2k+, but he pulled himself together in the face of a determined yet unlucky spud, who just couldn't get going. Colin 'noddy' Humphrey 1170 Paul Moyes 'calm down woman' Robb 1660Family tie this one, and it ws easy to see who had been putting in the practice over the summer, Paul never looked like losing, but noddy kept with him right to last few balls. Richard 'sherriff' Shepherd 2620 Nikki 'i didn't hit the black' Hinkins 580A welcome return to league billiards for the mighty sherriff, and off to a great start, Nikki struggled to contend with the quick and whippy top, sherriff running out the easy victor. Richard 'thats the last ciggie I give him'Jeffrey 1810 Adam 'its about time' Bateup 7220And the best saved till last Adam storming into a great win, hitting 4k+ of his opening break, I got the break back straight away but couldn't match the ponytailed one, who it has to be said played a superb game, virtually shutting me out of it. A strangely subdued and tense night, with some equally subdued billiards, highlight for me was Adams excellent couple of breaks of 4k and 3k to shut me out of the match, lowlight for me was watching Adam slap 4k and then 3k past meto shut me out of the match LOL ha ha ha ha

I'll get there in the end Dave just chilling after another S**t Day Hurst B won 4 1 but it should have been 3 2 really. United Services Captain Andy Short would of had a commanding lead but struggled to sort out the one up & twice pegged a decent score so it was only sparky in the last who sought revenge on King Lear from Sunday's friendly.
Iang 5540 Ron Wales 590 Steve King 3700 Mick Kirwan 1340 Chris Kirkham 2250 Andy Short 1470 Darrell Skinner 7380 Ray Pratt 620 John Lear 680 Sparky 5870
with 12 !!!! registered players the USC wont be short but who will play regular we wil have to wait & see ;D

Enjoyed my Mid Sussex debut - even though I was worse for wear this morning!
Happy to help out, I hope the Hurst A can find a couple of regulars so they can put a full side out every week.

On behalf of the USC team I would like to thank the Hurst B's for a very friendly first league turn out, I know it was only to be expected from such a great bunch but it was still good to hear my team mates say they enjoyed the evening, even though they lost ;D
Welcome Nige and hope your liver can stand even a short spell in the Mid-Sussex league :-* or is it BBR that is leading you astray ;D
Well done H but please wear yourself out before playing us ::)

just chilling after another S**t Day You as well ? You have my sympathies. I couldn't face playing last night, and whereas I had been really looking forward to the County Championships on Sunday, with the prospect now of only three games the gloss has now been taken off that one. You start to think, what's the point ? My job is so s**tty at the moment that I'm considering going long-term Tom and Dick with clinical depression/stress etc. But then I won't be able to go out at all in the evenings. So no bar billiards. I know that there are others worse of than myself, like poor Dave Alder with his recent bereavement, to whom our thoughts go out.

I thought that you were bidding your time for a big pay off or when you can put your feet up.
I'm trying to cope with holiday cover bouncing back & forth with more priority calls than I want. I have the pleasure of the wonderfull A27 my car knows how to avoid it's potholes all by itself now ;D ;D

I'm glad that they enjoyed their first league match it's a shame that you weren't able to spend much time together before the start of the season, stick with it I know that you can give a lot to the team. :)

I thought that you were bidding your time for a big pay off or when you can put your feet up. No, the beggars cottoned on to me and are now getting their own back. Not much time these days for internetting during the day. At the moment it's all stick and no carrots for the poor donkey. And that light at the end of the tunnel proved to just be someone with a torch bringing me more work. ::)

I was surprised that you didn't play last night, but that explains it. :( Has a team pulled out of Division 2 of the County Champs on Sunday then......?? :o Maybe they will let us play each other twice..... so we end up playing 6 games instead....!! 8-)

If you ever fancy meeting up for a drink, chat....... and maybe a couple of games..... give me a shout! ;) Thanks for the offer, but keep falling asleep at home and just too knackered sometimes to face the outside world. I'm not really depressed, just frustrated at being put upon at work. I expect I'll snap out of it. Has a team pulled out of Division 2 of the County Champs on Sunday then......?? :o Maybe they will let us play each other twice..... so we end up playing 6 games instead....!! 8-) Bucks are dodgy apparently. Your suggestion came up last year, when we had no Cambs, but the answer was that it would drag the day out too long.

MervtheSwerve put a note up recently on the AEBBA Events thread on the 'Tournaments' board, Nigel. Yeah I see Merv's post and hope we are not reading too much into it. As far as I know Bucks do have a team, but I got that from Charlie at the Berkshire so hope things have not changed. Will try and see if Dave Alder knows anything. With regards to 6 games for div 2, we did discuss the posibility last year when Cambs dropped out, but it would be an 8pm finish which is not too unreasonable for me, but I had been dragged over hot coals for 7.30pm finishes so thought it not a good idea overall. Let hope Bucks do play and we have two nice divisions of 5!

The last 2 results are now in........ with match reports for those not already on here courtesy of the Old Fella......
Week 1 of the league program sees 2 new teams entering the fray. We welcome The Laughing Fish from Isfield and the United Services Club from Haywards Heath. We hope both teams enjoy their season with us. The Charity Cup has not been included as part of this season’s league program due to time restraints but an alternative competition has been arranged. Lyn Storr has taken her side from the Windmill to the Royal Oak and its hello again to Val Gritton.
Russell Jennings, the rose amongst the errr.. other flowers was the only winner in the Royal Oak’s visit to Plough. The ladies couldn’t follow his lead and the following 4 legs all went the way of the home side with wins for Des Gasson, Mark Webber (5060), Keith Potter and Geoff Parsons.
Kleiners had a not too convincing win at home to White Horse. Brian Coleman put the Horse in front and Trevor Howes, the former Kleiner, made it 2-0. The reliable Mr Taylor took a decisive third to start the comeback and Shaky Coles followed suit with a very close win in the next. Pete Edwards then did the skipper bit and grabbed the closing leg and the win bonus.
The Watermill sides faced each other at the World’s End venue. The Flying Dutchman hit his best with 3410 to take the first leg and his side’s only point. Big Norm got the second for the A Team to level the tie and this was followed by home wins for Kim Stenning, John Staplehurst and Chris Nikolaj.
