At the risk of sounding like a Rooster ;D , has anyone heard anything yet ?
I presume the Div 1 and Div 2 teams for Sunday week (21st) will be the following:
Div 1 Oxon A Sussex A Berks A Hants Oxon B
Div 2 Kent A Surrey A Northants Bucks Sussex B
Surrey will be turning up at the PO Club, Reading on that day, but don't we normally have to register our players beforehand ?

Yep Tommo, Those are the correct teams.
Players do not need to register beforehand, the captain presents his team on the day.
I will be giving Dave some help on the day as it is his first team event he has to run and I am up there with the Sussex team.
As usual it will be 11.30 registration for 12pm start.
If counties intend to send B teams I am sure it will help Dave prepare for Div 3. If it is posted on here I am happy to pass it on.

So Div 3 looks like it might consist of Cambs; Kent B; Berks B and Surrey B. But - playing devil's advocate here - what would happen if it ends up as only Cambs and one other team? It would throw it all into disarray, surely, as you'd then want to fit Cambs and the other team into the first day. :-/ Sorry to be a purveyor of such a portent, but these things have to be considered in advance ! ;)

Cheers Tommo,
I do have an update from Dave Alder - Cambridge will not be sending any teams or individuals for the county comps, and may send a team for the team champs. Very disappointing news after last year.
So in answer to your question Tommo, it looks like we could be down to three teams already for div 3. If it went down to two I guess you could play an all play all competition but of course it would be very unsatisfactory. I was always afraid this may happen in the light of Sussex and Oxon getting their teams into the top 2 divisions, Cambs obviously have their problems but probably have less incentive to play on another weekend in Div 3, a seperate B team comp as per our inter league would have been a better idea IMO.
It will be up to Dave Alder at the end of the day to decide what to do with the teams that turn up. I hope that at least he gets the 3 B teams to show up on that day and that at least they can have a decent competition.

I suppose inviting teams to enter a "C" team would be going too far ??

Just to update the Cambs. situation - although neither Men's or Ladies champ can make it, still hopeful of a county side so it would be nice to know which division in case the day changes, which could alter a great deal of things/availability?? Its the NBBA team we can't make.

Keith, After last year Cambs were demoted to div 3, so that would be on the 5th Oct. Please let Dave Alder know if you can make this date

I suppose inviting teams to enter a "C" team would be going too far ?? No reason why this couldn't be considered, but the AGM would be the place for it to receive serious and proper discussion. But it's been said in the past that Counties need protection as entities, and a little rule needs to be put in first to say that an A team (or solitary team) cannot be demoted beyond a certain level of competition: Otherwise you could end up with a First Division consisting of two counties' A, B and C teams.

AEBBA Rule
11). Inter County Open representative matches will be seven-a-side. Ladies will be 5 - a – side. Counties may enter ‘A’ and ‘B’ sides for both competitions and ‘C’ sides for the Ladies.
As the ladies are allowed to enter a 'C' side, AEBBA would have a hard time justifying turning down an Open 'C' side if a county wanted to enter one on equal opportunity basis.

Let the runners up go, or better still any other team, it doesn't matter which team goes, at least they will be representing Cambs.

Good for you Johnny to go to represent Cambridge. This is a way of having your skills shown to the players at the very top on the tree, and maybe the stepping stone to you eventually managing to represent England.
Best of luck for the day.
