Yes, sadly I don't think I will be able to raise a team on the nights ros has given me so I will have to concede the match to the Bells.

Well I will have words with Roy if it doesn't get played since it is entirely down to US not the Eight Bells and so they don't deserve to be penalised - Ros has made every effort to contact me and get something arranged - the problem is at this end...but as I said I will try to get a team for that night

Unfortunately, the eloquent team player (cheers Bravo!) was also trying to play and ref for his pool team at the same time last night so missed most of the action. I also didnt get the starting handicaps for all the players but they ranged from just over 1k for bravo up to 1.8k for the ladies (and myself!). Anyway, here are the scores at least.
Russel Jennings: 2650 Bravo:4650 Jan Hinkins: 3180 Paul MR: 3970: Russel+Lynn Storr:3440 Nikki+Lynne MR:1810 Jan+Anne Stockinger:2940 Bravo+Paul:4100 Lynn:3490 Spud:4640
Pleased to say that the table is playing a bit better although you do have to give the balls a ruddy good thumping. Thanks to the Royals for a pleasant and entertaining evening. I hope i didnt disturb anyone with my less than polite exclamation when missing a straight black in my pool match (I went on to lose).

Eight Bells v Laughing Fish being played tonight....... 8-)
Colleen & I have competition matches arranged elsewhere so unlikely to play unless those are over quickly......... :-/
Home team need a 3-2 win to be sure of qualifying for the semi-final stage...... a 2-3 defeat would probably be enough, but anything worse than that would leave the door open for any of the other teams to overtake us as we have a bye in the next series of matches. ::)

Eight Bells 1 - 4 Laughing Fish
Tony Driver (1550) 2450 vs 3910 (930) Jim Ashford
A slow start, with Jim black pegging his initial score due to the "quirk" up the right hand side of the peg. Tony got the break back but missed and then Jim made a 1k break to catch, followed by a few medium breaks to win!
Gary Foster (1240) 2430 vs 2010 (1240) Chris Ashford
Not going to pull any punches - an appauling game, with not much happening throughout and I guess Gary potted the few more balls than Chris did.
Pam + Tony (1550) 2560 vs 5430 (0) Jim + H
I broke off with 700, and Jim soon added a further 700. After a bit of messing about by all 4, Jim was first back with another 700. I then played the table out at the end for just over 2k.
Ros + Trevor (620) 2940 vs 3830 (1240) Ray + Chris
Chris made a 1k start this time. A few smaller breaks were hit all round, then Ros with a 1k break but not enough to catch the deficit.
Ros Appleby (620) 3060 vs 3960 (0) H
I opened with a 3k break than neglected to do much more for the rest of the game. Ros hit a break of 1.5k and almost looked like catching but not quite.
Many thanks to the Bells for a good match and a nice selection of Sarnies and Onion rings (with a very nice chilli dip). Shame about the drunken chav locals having a domestic at the bar, and people telling us to "move" out of the way of the football screen. Oh and the pint of vinegar we got served to begin with (which to the barmans credit was soon replaced with a decent enough pint of Harveys). Nice to see Bobhall gambling away all his money too! XD

XD Well done to the Fish, the result was worth the effort you made to get a team out! ;) Sorry I wasn't able to get up there to play, had been hoping to make it for the last game (that would have been interesting H! :P) or two, but the competition pairs matches we had elsewhere both started slightly late and went to all 3 games..... ::) ...... but at least we got a couple of good wins there!! ;D Unfortunately, the "drunken chav locals" aren't particularly friendly towards the idea of bar billiards in their pub..... I remember very well the "welcome" we got on our first night there which was so unpleasant that Colleen & I would never use the pub socially, or even go there to practice except on match nights. >:( >:( >:( Such a shame after the wonderful welcome we got from the Sportsman..... :'(

Tony got the break back but missed and then Jim made a 1k break to catch, followed by a few medium breaks to win! I'm afraid that's not quite correct H, Jim played a rather firm shot up to the back, the object ball came back to the 200 hole, but took the black peg out on it's way down the hole. Ros + Trevor (620) 2940 vs 3830 (1240) Ray + Chris Chris made a 1k start this time. A few smaller breaks were hit all round, then Ros with a 1k break but not enough to catch the deficit. Tricky game that one, plenty of awkward balls up the back, the 1k break I made was all off the LH 50 hole, playing off the cushion to keep position as long as possible, but eventually I had to pot both balls and go back to the rest of the table. Sadly Trevor and I never managed to clear the table to get the 'proper' break. XD Yes, it was a pity about the 'domestic', I was scoring at the time. It seemed to be a rather heated row between a lad and his (ex?) girlfriend. The bar staff put the lid on it fairly quickly though. A very enjoyable evening, thanks to the Fish for being good company. We had some good friendlies with Boball afterwards too :)

Sorry about my error with the black peg. I didn't actually see it and it was an assumption :S
