Sportsman 3 Greyhound 2
Tony Driver 1,720 - 2,320 Paul Goodwin Paul off fairly early but was able to maintain his lead with Tony unable to get the break back. 0-1 :(
DA-DM 1,170 - 920 Geoff Fairs Both players made very hard work of the game, with the balls ending up in all sorts of unusual places and whipping out of pockets...! ::) Colleen managed to get a slight lead near the end and although Geoff had 2 goes at the 200 she sank the last ball in the 100 hole to win the game. 1-1 ;D :-*
BB Warrior 11,570 - 890 Peter Burchell Peter off early, I got the balls back straight away and knocked in two 5k breaks with a bit more at the end. 2-1 ;)
Sir Trevor "A" 1,740 - 2,540 Trevor "TiR" Rees An under the weather Sir Trevor left a ball short after getting the break, giving TiR a chance to gain a lead which he maintained throughout the match. 2-2 :(
Lady Ros "A" 2,220 - 1,550 Neil Burchell Neil always seems to struggle against Ros on this table and so it proved tonight..... with Ros playing a captains match to come from behind to seal the victory. 3-2 8-) ;)
Lots of lovely food, a thoroughly enjoyable evening as always against the very sporting Greyhound team. 8-) :)

Yes, we certainly enjoyed our match - there were plenty of laughs, with the mascot excited early on, but later depleted and ending the evening face down in margo's handbag !
Here are the 'missing' scores:
Hurst 'A' 3, Handcross 'Z' 2 BB Reaper 2490, Graham Daniels 5870 The Old Fella 2290, 'young fella' John Turner 1050 BobHall 2550, Barry Timson 3790 Papa Hall 2710, Mick Holmwood 1800 Sir KT 14,820, Johnny Haigh 160
The event had its share of drama - Reaperman, having overhauled Graham's opening 3k, was going great guns and heading effortlessly towards five figures when he had a wicked whip on to the peg at around 7k. Graham got just enough on his second visit.
BobHall was similarly up with the pace early on but had one come back fast onto a peg. A cut and thrust affair was then decided in Barry's favour.
After Papa Hall had made it 2-all to save himself any self-harm following last week's experience at the Laughing Fish, it was over to Sir KT to follow in Nigel's footsteps from the previous week, which he did, showing his pedigree with a superb 14k after one minor blip half way through.
Thanks to BobHall for the delicious food (coronation chicken, garlic kievs etc etc) which as ever is second to none.

BB Warrior 11,570 - 890 Peter Burchell Peter off early, I got the balls back straight away and knocked in two 5k breaks with a bit more at the end. 2-1 ;) Well done Dave! He came to the table just three times, as far as I remember it was 5180, 5040 and 1350 (the last break playing the table out) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) A fantastic effort, especially as our clock is currently very short (pending adding some more weights to the timer) What a shame we were playing at home ::) I'd like to echo the Warrior's thoughts, thanks to the Greyhound for a good sociable evening.

Droops poor start to the season continues!!!! :'( :'( :'( :'( United Services Club 3 Brewers Droops 2 :-[ :-X :-/ Mamma Hall 2620 Ron Wales 500 :D Sir Jock 2990 Sparky 4210 :( Fred 1010 Mike Kirwan 2200 ??? Noddy 1050 Andy Short 1840 :-[ Andy FW 6810 Simon Kirwan 380 ;D Thanks to Graham and the lads for a great evening, lovely venue even though the wags scavenged all the food before the players got a look in. ??? Interesting table, but interesting in a very good way. :P ;) I predict some seriously large scores on that top this season. :o :o Highlight of the evening, Brighton wining 5-3 on penalties, ;D :D :o low point, realizing that we probably just put ourselves firmly on the bottom of the league. Doh! Best wishes to the sheriff, who was taken ill, lets hope for a speedy recovery. And I think Bravo's beat Laughing Fish 3-2

Well done to the Sportsman a great start to the season, keep it up. Sir Trevor deserves credit for turning up under the weather and special congrats to Colleen on her win, now the confidence will grow and you will start to get used to winning.
Now we have Sir KT making his Mid - Sussex debut with an excellent score. An interesting season ahead with a number of players going to make guest appearances as available.

Watermill B v Plough Martin Range 1680 Geoff Parsons 1070 Rather a scrappy game as the score line suggests.geoff missed the break and then Martin got the break and he missed it.Not much more you can say. Steve Lathwell 1560 v Des Gasson 1870 Another scrappy game.Steve started with a break of 430 and then left both up.Des then got a break of 1040.After that it became a battle at the back of the table. Paul Blackburn 520 v Mark Webber 3050 Mark started with a break of1560 then I eventually got the break and got my score up to 1800.Mark got the break again and scored another 1100.I was then on a score of 860 when I contrived to hit the black peg and game over. Nigel Orme 280 v Keith Potter 4210 Nigel started with a break of about 550 and then pegged it keith got the break back scored about 1100.A few shot s later he got the break again and put together a break of 2900 which was well compiled Sabina Williams 760 v ? 3790 Sabbina's opponent sorry forgot in the excitement to make a note of his name started with a break of 2520 and although Sabina tried hard and got the break a couple of times her opponent got the break back and knocked up another 820.So that was game and match over.

Welcome to the Forum......... it's great to see a match report from another team here! ;D 8-)
The person who played Sabina was probably Malcolm Fuller, he is the other regular player from the Plough.
From the comments about the games (scrappy, missed breaks and several pegs mentioned...! :o) it looks as if the table wasn't easy last night......? ???
Hope you have a good season, look forward to reading more match reports in the weeks to come................ and please feel free to join in on any of the other threads, it will be nice to hear some new thoughts! ;D

if you do it at home it's called neighbourhood watch....... ;D ;D it's good to hear what goes on in other matches - it's nice to know i'm not the only one who struggles...... it also gives an idea of how each table has behaved on the night !!

White Horse 1 Hurst B 4 from a strangely empty White Horse as thet have no Chef untill it changes hands. Colin Mansfield 1680 Chris Kirkham 3540 Chris played well & Colin struggled Trevor Howes 4500 Iang 2320 Trevor in front all game & lost 1K I got break back & didn't do much with it Will Shaw 1080 John Lear 2240 Brian Colman 1050 Steve King 5870 Best performance of the night a carefull well thought out 4K even though Steve had the white come inside 0n more than one occassion. Darrell Skinner walk over
Fair to say that everyone including all the home players had difficulty with the break getting once then missing on the next shot.
2 massive platters of sarnies to round off with lovelly prawn in different breads yum yum.

Is that why you haven't played yet Tommo are you saving yourself for next week ????? It's true, I haven't been able to get into my own team so far. :-[ :'( But with a couple of them away for the next few weeks the team will pick itself so I'll get a game. Thanks for your concern, Ian. ;)

Reports from the other matches played last week, courtesy of the Old Fella......
Royal Oak v CKRBL First home game for the Royal Oak and it started well with another win for the Rose, albeit a close call. Peter Edwards got all skipperish again and levelled it at 1 all. Jenny put the Kleiners into the lead with a welcome win in the next and Dilly sowed the game up with a win in the fourth. A very welcome point for the Oak in the last as Lyn Storr showed her girls how it could be done.
St Francis v Watermill A The A Team went away to Saints and came away with enough to see them top of division1. Matt Geal put Saints one up, Kim Stenning pulled it back. Big Norm put The A Team in front, as any good captain should, then Shaun Morris hit big in the fourth with 6060 to make it all square again, as any good captain should. Yet another decider, this one going to the visitors' John Staplehurst for an important moral booster. It’s good to be on top.
Brewers Bravos v Laughing Fish Laughing Fish, the early leaders in the lower division, went away to the Brewers to play PTG’s Bravos side. Fish’s Chris Ashford and Andy Brooks took the first 2 and it looked like another good evening for them. But not quite as Paul M-R grabbed the third to start the fight back. Next leg to PTG with the best match score, and a winning game in the last to Richard ‘Spud’ Spurrier to give Bravos a leg up the table.
