The Betteshanger Lions continued their winning start to the season with a hard fought 4-2 victory away at Two Sawyers, Woolage Green.
The home side started well as Alan Smith (7,350) defeated Chris Saville, thanks to a break of 5,100 midway through the game, but this was followed by a win for the visitors by John Addley (9,280) after another impressive opening break of 8,450, to level the scores. The final singles game saw Neville Potts (7,890) open with 6,200 against Gary Clarke to put the visitors back in front at 2-1.
The first doubles game (2k max break, bust rule) was won by the home side as Richard Cousens & Stuart Richardson (4,670) levelled the match again, but a victory in the next leg by Wack Sampson & Saville (4,270), courtesy of a very decisive late 2k break by Sampson put the visitors ahead again. The match was finally won in the last leg as Addley & Saville (6,260) scored impressively to see the visitors home.
