And Keith as you are now part of the top 16...can you play? Yes Nigel, I would love to play. I didn't expect to get in again this year, but so far 7 players have dropped out for one reason or another. :o Last year only 2 players of the original top 16 didn't play. I reckon their might be one or two more players dropping out yet, as I was also told that Tony Walsh can't make it, but you will have to find out from him. It would also be a surprise to me to see the World Champion come over from Guernsey, but I hope he does as it would be great to see how he adapts to our pockets on our tables. Keith. :) P.S. Back to work tomorrow :( but still on painkillers :( and I hope Richard is in my group, so I can give him a good beating. ::) ;)

Nigel, what happens if 2 more places become available and it's between Simon and Mick for the 16th place, do they have to toss a coin to see who plays?
I know Simon can make it, but not sure about Mick.

Thanks Keith - we now have 12 confirmed.
Tupper is a likely yes just got to confirm with him, Walshy is in the States - Dave Alder is trying to get hold of him for me. Mark Turner is unsure at the moment and Trevor Galllienne was keen on coming over but haven't heard from him as yet.
If it is between Simon and Mick for 16th then there would be the nightmare of a play off for the final place. This should happen on the day but both would have to be there early so the play off could be played. As they are both in oxon I would be agreeable to them playing off beforehand if they wanted to save one of them the trip for one game. This nearly happened last year as Tony Webster and Richard Wooton ended up tied for 15th, but in this case they just toss a coin to see who took the 15th and 16th seedings.

Tony Walsh & Mark Turner are both No's.
That makes 9 withdrawals out of the top 20. :o
p.s. I'm on here now because I've just been woken up by that lovely postman of ours for a signature for a parcel for my son Graham. >:( >:(
Off to bed again now....Good night all. ;D

Nigel, I thought I read it on here somewhere, but have you any idea what time it may finish next week?
If it is a late finish I may have to pull myself out as I can't get the Monday after off, but at least it will save Simon and Mick having to play off for 16th place!
Thanks
Keith.

Yes Walshie and Mark Turner are no's
Waiting to hear from Geoff. And that could leave us with the problem of a play off between Simon Ellam and Micky Jones. Is Simon definitely available Keith because he is in at least a play off spot. Can someone either contact or give me contact details for Mick Jones so I can let him know.

Hi Nigel,
I have decided to give it a go, even if it could mean not getting hardly any sleep afterwards. Who knows what might happen, with all the good players that are taking part I may not even make the Semis, in which case I can come home early. :( :)
Have you heard from Mick Jones yet about the play off, or do you want me to get in touch with them both and arrange it in Oxford?
Keith.

Keith, if you could speak to both of them that would be great, I have not yet heard from Mick. A playoff beforehand would be preferrable probably to the players and definitely the organisers as it frees up a table for Sunday.
You got every chance of making the semis Keith......as you are not in my group now ;) ;D

I can understand the thought behind an email, however, I run several servers for a variety of users, most of which are my own machine in my own house, I loaded my client tonight after a week of being away for one reason or another and I have around 17,000 emails, 12,000 of these are aleady flagged as spam.... This leaves me with 5,000 emails I have to at least look at as those who use my servers pay for it. Not everyone has internet access, I heard by word of mouth that this conversation was taking place and would have not looked otherwise until the weekend. A simple phonecall would have been nice, Oxford players may not have had my contact details, but most certainley would have had Bob's ( Oxford players will know Bob :) )
My whine is over, so, as most of the Oxford players know, I am always up for a game so, for me, it when and where :) ( except Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday which are league nights for me ).
Mike

Fully agree with you Caimen a simple phone call is all what was needed. As i have stated before not everyone has internet access :)

No not everyone has internet access but due to this thread at least word got round to Mick. I asked for his contact details but noone had given me his phone number otherwise I obviously would have rung him to get a direct answer. Although Mick has replied here I still don't have his number and still don't know whether he intends to be there on Sunday!
I am doing my best here....I have had to contact 40+ players for the 24 grand prix places in the last 3 weeks, most of whom are not in my league so I do not have any idea of how to get hold of them. I have now got 22 confirmed (15 & 7), so I am nearly there with 4 days to go......thankyou to everyone that has helped me so far, the Grand Prix would not take place at all without the use of this forum.

Perhaps all players would be kind enough to add their phone numbers to their profiles, so that emergency contact can be made, otherwise emails / PM's are the only means available.
In the meantine Nigel, who is not the National Tournament Director, but trying hard to make the tournament happen, only has this forum as a means of contact.
Without this forum there would have been complete chaos over the AEBBA competitions this year, few would have known about them and no-one could have given an indication of entering before the day, as there have been no entry forms, causing a scheduling nightmare.
A little appreciation of Nigel's efforts please.
Sav

Hi Nigel, I have arranged the Play-off between Simon & Mick, they have both agreed to play at the Portcullis Club on Sat 29th starting at 7.30, I have offered to go there and mark for them.
Also keep up the fantastic work you are doing, regarding all the formats for All England Comp's, results and rankings on the AEBBA site and all your spare time that you are putting in to making sure that it all runs as smoothly as possible, even though you are not officially Tournament Director.
Please keep it up as most of us fully appreciate what you do....Thank You. :)
Keith.

My last post was very harsh and I apologise for it, was an due to an unfortunate combination of too much JD+Coke, tiredness and sheer frustration that my spam filter has once again decided to stop functioning.
I do appreciate the time and effort you put into this and never meant to indicate otherwise.
