Reaper is Pairs World Champion
All hail to Kev Hall, with Kevin Tunstall the new World Pairs Champions. They beat Keith Sheard and Jim Millward in the Quarter-final, Dennis Atkins and Geoff Jukes in the Semi-final, and Gary Powell and Phil Collins in a tense Final, to become the first winners from the Mainland.
And in the World Championship Singles, undoubtedly the Mid Sussex performance of the weekend was that of CKRBL's Jenny Edwards in making it to the last 32 (Fourth Round) - for which she received the "Most Meritorious Performance of the Competition Award", in a close decision: the other contender being 16-year-old Christopher Oakley from Worthing who reached the same stage.
So well done to Jenny, who received a commemorative goblet to mark her achievement.

And as i can see we also cannot forget the performance of the one mr tommo who was very unlucky against chris reeves but well played clive Bless you, Bobhall. But missing a basic shot like the one-up five times does not really deserve that coveted last 16 place. A couple of things that stood out for me was the good run of form of Dave and Colleen in the Pairs on the Friday night. And of course the number of times Bobhall sat down to do scoring duties. Not winning the special raffle after such an accumulation of tickets from the scoring was in itself a travesty !

Thanks guys, it was great to have a bit of a run in the pairs..... until we ran into a couple of players with 4 world titles between them! :o ;)
Many congratulations to the Reaper on winning the World Pairs title with SirKT, also to Jenny for her great run (after beating Colleen in the first round :-/) and Tommo who also reached the last 32. ;)
We thoroughly enjoyed our first "Jersey" (and have the t-shirts to prove it! 8-)) and will definitely be back there next year........ it was great to see so many Mid-Sussex players there and have the chance to meet up with Bernie again and so many other players from around the country.
A great weekend..... ;D

Congratulations to Mr Reaper, who has now broken into the Top 50 British/World Ranked players:

He is now Mid Sussex's top ranked player.
BB Warrior has also broken into the Top 100 on the back of one year's worth of points only.
Points are earned primarily by entering the County 'Opens' and pitting your skills against top-level players. In the World Championships, points are doubled.
For a sight of the full list at the close of 2008, you can enter the AEBBA site by clicking on the round AEBBA logo at the foot of this page, and selecting from the drop-down menus.

I have never been in the rankings...*cries* why is that? That said I intend to enter the full complement of opens in the coming year...bring it on boys! I look forward to seeing you at the Opens next year H and feel sure that you will do well....... I thoroughly enjoyed my first year of them, it's been great to meet so many new people and I would recommend to anybody that enjoys the game to enter a few Opens. 8-) Congratulations to the Reaper on his rise up the Rankings, also to Tommo who modestly forgot to mention his own position (49th after moving up 18 places from the year before! ;D) and the other Mid-Sussex positions are as follows..... 102 - Lorraine Hall 146= Sir Jock & Peter Edwards 165 - Jenny Edwards 178 - Lady Ros 182 - Q (despite only playing 1 Open!) 217 - Papa Hall 247 - DA-DM :-* 292 - Sparky 301= XPTG & John Lear

182 - Q (despite only playing 1 Open!) Thats purely as a result of a lucky season (about 3 seasons ago) certainly no reflection on my current form
