Regarding the Zeds v Droops match for Wed, 26th Nov, A/F/W has been in touch to say the Droops can't raise a side for this Wednesday. He will shortly be offered three alternative dates in line with League Rule 7.

Thanks Tommo, nobody has been in touch with the fixtures secretary about the postponement, this part of rule doesn't count then, is that so ?

Don't shoot the messenger, we're the injured party here !
After being involved in the making of numerous phonecalls, I've got our side of the proceedings together, and I've just been on the blower to the postponing captain, offering a choice of three alternative dates as I'm obliged to do.
I would have expected that as a matter of course that he would have contacted the Fixtures Secretary as a first port of call, to offer adequate reason for the postponement. But as I read it, he still has 24 hours grace in which to do so.

As a neutral party in this, is there any need to make such a fuss. The matter has been made public on this forum, and therefore people know about it, fixtures secretary included. Surely that is acceptable...

Just to add, the three dates I've offered are 11th, 14th and 16th Dec. I want to be squeaky clean on this one ! ;D

A mutually agreed re-arrangement of a match has never been questioned in the past.
There is a game coming up which I need to postpone and as long as the opposing captain agrees I shall do so, and of course inform the fixtures secretary.
If some of us are not able to understand that this is an amateur game and that most people have other commitments then I am not sure whether I or my team wish to continue in this league.

Clive, I know the dates given, but as you are probably aware, Interleague is on the 14th and both you and I play Redhill on a Tuesday, is there any chance of the 7th December, I know Andy is going to ring you, but those 2 dates are out of the question.

Why are other people steaming in and getting involved and making this out to be a problem when as far as I can see there isn't one ? :o :o :o

Sorry Lorraine, the 7th is not convenient to our team, but having checked with IanG I find there is no Horsham game on the Handcross table on Tues 23rd Dec either, so that will be the extra date offered to replace the 'Interleague' Sunday. (The first half of Redhill League ends on the 9th - and the 16th and 23rd are set aside for Competitions only, I believe.)

Done !
I had been thinking along the same lines, recalling to mind the "Plea to Moderators" thread.
We now have a 'clean start' for Week 10, and date negotiations can now continue on here if need be.

Thank you Tommo, The Farmer has been in touch with Jan
Aitch - not everyone has immediate access to the forum and its not a 100% acceptable means of communication. Just what the hell is wrong in using a telephone for its original purpose.

I post this, not just because of this match, but because this issue has already caused problems this season.
Last season I had a problem for weeks 2 and 3. I was off to Florida for 2 weeks and Peter to the Carribean for 3.
This is what I did. Persuaded Bob Ellis to come out of retirement, and arranged for Mat's wife, Ali to play 2 games. My final instructions to Chris were, if there was a problem for the home match, he was to ask the club steward to play, he was signed up. If there was a problem for the away game, he was to go with what he had, I did not want to come back to a rearranged match.
What would the consequences have been if I had taken another view and cancelled these matches. One of these matches was at home to the Z's. I would have played instead of Ali. Because of their dominance I have always tried to inflict as much suffering as possible when I play the Z,s, I hope Tommo will confirm this. I can not remember myself loosing at home to the Z's, although I am sure I must have done at some time or another. If I had played and won- Z's do not win the league, Hurst B do. Steve King does not win premiership player of the year, I do. Saints got 2 out of a potential 12 points in weeks 2 and 3, and were relegated by 4 points.
Not for one minute do I regret my decision, and I feel I played to the spirit and the letter of the law.
I do not want to take sides, or even offer an opinion. However I would like to point out that Roy and Jan have an equal responsibilty to all teams and players in the league, not just the 2 teams involved in a cancelled match, and as such are well within their rights to expect things to be done properly, and to ask the odd question. Regards to all. Shaun

I'm probably missing the point here, but since you asked, yes you always seem to inflict damage on the Zeds, usually with great relish, and the last time one of us beat you was on 7th March 2007 (Mick Holmwood 3120-2000 at the Handcross).
The real matter under discussion, tomorrow night's postponed game, ceases to be a problem (not that it ever was, AFAIC) as I have tonight reached an agreement with my opposite number as to when it's to be played.
I agree on the protocol to be followed, and all parties concerned seem to have adhered to this, it remains for me to follow up my eMail to Jan earlier today with a message to this effect.
To return to your point: "IF IFS AND ANDS WERE POTS AND PANS". You had choices to make, and they were noble in thought.
And back once more to the current situation. The only way it could have gone tits up is if none of my dates were accepted, and I finished up obliged to play on a date where we would have had to field a weakened team. That would have been neither fair nor acceptable. But as already confirmed, everything handled completely amicably - and no problem.

Thank the lord for that. this one can go to bed now. Was talking about my home record against you and not my away record. Wish I had not said that because I am sure you will come up with a recent thrashing at St Francis which has escaped my failing memory.
Just wanted to make the point that a rearranged match can have consequences for teams and players, other than the 2 teams involved. Therelievedone

No 'recent thrashing at St Francis' comes to mind: your table has been a nemesis to us for many years. The only person who has come close to beating you has been Margo a couple of years ago - and you beat her on the last ball. :-[

While we're reminiscing then, how about my game at your place in 2006? I was about a grand behind girliefosters, who had me stitched up like a kipper, nothing would go in for me. So I virtually gave up and switched to playing left-handed - and they started flying in all over the place. I got within reach as the bar went and potted the 200 for a tie ! It remains the only season in 40 years that I have ever gone through unbeaten. 8-)

Yes I remember that one. However you switched back to right handed for the 200 shot, which I thought was a bit Girlie of you. Sean Morris, which is in anagram of No arse rims according to Mat Geal.
