Or that the venues can be reversed to start at second named players venue ? Or is this perhaps a mistake and not relevant to a home and away series ?? I'm only asking ::)

I would imagine that it is simply a case of the highlighted sentence being (incorrectly) left on the draw letter Sparky and that all matches should be played on a Home & Away basis as usual...... however I have asked Mama Hall to clarify this next time she is on the website. ;D

As this is not played on a neutral table no the rule does not apply, a mistake on my part, sorry forgot to take off that part.

Some good, and some not so good, Bar Billiards tonight as John Staplehurst beat Sparky 3-1.
Watermill Game 1. John only got about 1k on his break but we couldn't get the break back at all and although I stayed close he managed to win through with only a couple of grand each I think. 1-0
Game 2. I broke off with 5k and finished with 6k while John couldn't get it together. 1-1
USC Game 3. I went off with only 2.5k but John only got a few then I managed another 2.5k before John stepped up sealed the game with a really good 5k break and finished with 6k (11+k table score) to beat me. 2-1
Game 4. By now John had sorted the table and posted another good 6k score while I just didn't compete nearly well enough :-/ 3-1
Thanks to John for some cracking good BB and good company while scoring more than 12k at the USC when the table took nearly 20k, I think, in the 2 games (didn't record the scores unfortunately). Thanks also to Chris Nikolaj for scoring all the games.

I think the USC table may well challenge the Hurst Club for top scoring table once it has settled in and people have gotten used to it. I for one am looking forward to playing our league match there, was gorgeous during our doubles other than the cushions!

A marathon first round match in The Old Codgers Cup twix Peter Burchell and The Old Fella. And a tale of 2 tables.
First round at the Greyhound, Peter's break in the first, finishes with 5K8, TOF finishes with a touch of concern. Game 2, I finsh with broken nails, having clawed to my best effort this seasn with 9K. Lovely table.
Down to the Hurst Club and wondering what we'll find there.
Well, Bobhall was there but not a lot of temperature.
Game 3, TOF's break, and a win for Peter 1600 to 1500 Game 4, Peter's break, my win, 2k to 1k8
The table was disappointing, despite Bobhall's protestations. Oxford shots it may be good for, but we're not all that way inclined.
So into the decider, Peter opens with 2K+, SFA for TOF. Peter continues with a steady progress of points, not so me and I finsh with something around 2K to Peter's 6K something.
Well done him, it was a damned good match.
I've played at the Hurst Club for a number of years now, and if that's the table I've now got to play on, I think I'll sign for the Greyhound next season. I may not get to play every week and I'll have to pay more for the beer, but I'll start enjoying my billiards again.

14 posts have been moved to the 'Hurst Social Club' thread, where the raging discussion over the table can resume (within reason). Let's keep this one for the Senior Singles please.
