I think that it is great that we now get regular match reports & scores from 12 of the 16 teams in the League and I'm really pleased to see our new "reporters" from Watermill B & Bravos getting involved this season. 8-) ;D
That just leaves 4 teams that we don't hear from regularly / at all.....
Watermill A Plough Royal Oak CKRBL (although Jen posts sometimes)
Is there anything we can do to encourage them to join in...... or have they all got "lives"......!! ;D

Des Gasson from the Plough recently asked me for the address of the forum, although I haven't seen any activity from him on here...

Hmm, no reason why we shouldn't hear more on here from Jenny, our General Secretary, although I know she had a very busy summer aside of bar billiards.
We have to be ambassadors and spread the word more to the teams that we play. The Royal Oak, for instance, hadn't heard of Jersey/the World Championships, but when told about it were fascinated.
For the Watermill A, someone needs to encourage Kim Stenning and/or Adie White - both have accounts on here.
Re: the Plough, unlikely we'll ever get a report, the best bet to work on being young Mark Potter.

Therein lies the problem: those of us who are habitual users find it very easy, but sometimes underestimate the difficulties of getting up and running.
It didn't take me long to get hooked by means of sneaky visits at work during my lunchhours, but it took another year before I was able to post from home.
Firstly we bought an antiquated PC from the next door neighbour for sixty quid, but quite a bit of the memory capacity was used up, and we only used it for spreadsheets and word processing. I would probably have gone for dial-up had not one of our cats died and we were suddenly £30 a month better off through not having to buy his thyroid control tablets any more. So we took out the Broadband arrangement.
Our hardware as it turned out had no anti-virus measures set up - not even a firewall - and we were soon in the sorry position of having to pay an expert to purge it of viruses and a couple of nasty Trojans. It was a further year before I was convinced that having a laptop might be a good idea !
So spare a thought for people who are trying to gain confidence in a world where you can lose your hard drive, have to worry about backups and have deals thrust at you by different providers, including tempting offers of increased bandwith, more efficient routers etc etc.
Not everyone can take it all in straightaway, and I have struggled probably as much as anyone !
I am sure that there are many potential new participants around, I was speaking to a few of them in Redhill last week. What I think we need is for someone with "Go anywhere Broadband" to give a demo at an Open or a Finals Night to show the delights of the Forum and its intricacies - and maybe answer any questions anyone migght have about getting started.

It goes back to this weird situation. Young people such as myself who have grown up with this technology find it second nature and often forget others are quite lost when it comes to computers etc. I have been guilty of assuming everyone is able to use a number of times, and probably will a lot more and apologise. Its just what seems so simple to one person have seem a mountain of problems to another. I'm sure many psychologists could live off this situation for a number of years...

Very true, and there are even other factors to consider: Not everyone has access to a computer; not everyone is on eMail. There are probably more people older than 50 than under playing bar billiards these days !
And some people (like myself a few years ago) would be so fed up with looking at a VDU all day long at work that the last thing they would want to do when they got home was log on to a computer again !
The saving grace here - for us - is that the Forum has become the chosen medium for passing quick messages across the B-B world. Even guests who haven't registered can look in and quickly find out what's happening.

Assure people it is only confidence, I am still a novice on the computer, but by using the forum have gained confidence to try other things. Definitely not the brightess star in the galaxy, but what the heck nobody on here ever critices mistakes anbd in fact most are very helpful in giving advice. TJ.
