A bit of a shock at the Tap last night, 2nd division team Duke of Wellington A turned over the league leaders, Brewery Tap A 3-2
Brewery Tap A 2 – 3 Duke of Wellington A
Richard Wooton 12,510 – 1,170* Dave Bartrum Marc Chipman 5,900 – 6,990* Brian Bartrum Chris Reeves 20,550 – 370* Stu Bettles Nigel Senior 1,250* - 4,510* Roy Chuter
Game 1 – Rich had a couple of goes trying to get the break back after Dave’s initial miss. When he did eventually get them back he made 7k, then another 5k at the end 1-0.
Game 2 – good game between Brian and Marc. Marc established a 5k lead and looked in command. Brian clawed his way back and then missed with the scores level. Marc missed a crucial ball, letting Brian back in to win the game. 1-
Game 3 – Chris was ruthless after Stu’s early miss, with breaks of 8k and 12k, to make a 20k score. 2-1.
Game 4 – Nigel faced Roy in what was the decider as the Tap had only 4 players. Roy started with 1,000, and both players struggled to get the break back. Roy would then get the balls back again and put the game nearly out of Nige’s reach as he got up to 3,700 with little 3 mins remaining. Nigel had a go, finally getting the break back, but a fairly pathetic missed 50-10 sealed the Tap’s fate 2-3
Well done to the Duke, inflicting a first loss at home for the Tap in over 2 years and taking away the last unbeaten record.

Montreal 0 - 5 Horseshoes
M Barsby 1480 - 12200 KT S Burns 1440 - 12910 R Dewdney G Mechan 2770 - 10670 I Lelliott W Pryor 1890 - 9280 M Spier B Mechan 4310 - 8040 G Jukes
Although we got hammered it was a cracking night and played in the right spirit, with KT setting the precedent and letting us have a go when they had done enough.
I fear i may be on the recieving end of Nigel's woes tomoro night in the singles. Just proves that the new league format is improving alot of the lower division players though, by playing against better opposition each week.

Wellie 3 - 2 Tap B
An enjoyable night on a table that still doesn't seem quite right.
Game 1. Pete v Ian. Ian ended up 100 points behind with last white in hand. After a bit bit advice from his captain, Taxi (I didn't come all this way to f***ing draw) Ian comfortably sank the ball into the 200. 0-1 Game 2. Nick v Rose?. Yet another close game. Lots of cheers when Rose got a well play 980. Nick was still to sober to lose properly. 1-1 Game 3. Me v Taxi. I did try to influence the game by buying Chris a pint of Thatchers before the start of this game. I didn't work though and I spent the whole game about 1k behind. With a minute or three left on the clock I got the break back. I got down to the last white still needing points to win. I played with my usual style and grace (I guessed) and sank the ball in the100. 2-1 Game 4. Mark v Phil. I didn't see much of this game. Mark struggled while Phil found it a bit easier. 2-2 Game 5. Tim v Adam. Tim found some of his form after last week and won by a margin. 3-2
Well done to the Wellie A in their win last night. I am sure we can do the same next week at the 3 Horseshoes (in our dreams).

Anything`s possible Regg3y, giving 5 breaks away, even at the Horseshoes. I also echo your congratulations to your `B` side.
Thanks to the Montreal for an enjoyable evening, good food as well ;D

Windmill C 3 Albion A 2
Late report, busy time at work and in home life. Excellent evening despite the lack of atmosphere in the pub, we are now told no music in the bar that we play in so with lack of punters and background noise it is a bit like a morgue. Tried best with banter and interaction, but could do with background noise. Despite this excellent food at end with chips, samosas, cheesey straw things.
To the game, gforgot to get exact scores of skippers card, and memory will have to play a part.
Game One. Jean break against TJ. Jean struggled on the openimg break with the left hand fifty proving a tad awkward, broke down on around 1 1/2k. TJ replield with about 2k, Jean back wit another 2K, TJ having left both up on break. Bits and piecse before I played out with enough to win. 6.5k played 5.2k. 1 - 0.
Game Two. Ginas break against Bella, both struggled but battled gamely with Gina running out the winner. 2 - 0.
Game Three. Alan B on break against Dave A, Alan playing an excellent game to end with over 10k, only giving Dave one chance when breaking down on around 2k opening break.
Game Four. Bill`s break against Doug, and Bill off cheaply with only 600, but he was first to retrieve break and made sureof victory. 3 - 1
Game Five. Arthur against Kevin. Kevin confident on break and built useful opener which Arthur then helped by when getting break back four timing it. 3 - 2
Thanks to Albion for sporting evening and sorry about the lack of atmosphere and as you know we ( well especially me ) are quiet and retiring.
