White Horse 2 Greyhound 3
Trevor Howes 4890 Geoff Fairs 2680 Ian Powell 1250 Trevor Rees 3650 Mick Stratford 550 Paul Goodwin 6550 Colin Mansfield 1840 Peter Burchell 3190 Brian Coleman 3450 Neil Burchell 580
Played a day early as we could not make tomorrow, Jan was informed by phone last week.
Paul played first continuing his good run and making it look easy again. I played second and we were level until I got the break back for 2K near the end. A fairly close game in the third with Trevor getting a 2K break near the end. Peter played a steady game to continue his winning run. Another close game until Neil pegged a 2k break which would have brought him level, it gave Brian the break back and he took full advantage.
A pretty straight top just a little slow.
A pleasant evening as usual.
It is nice to be top of the league again even if only for a day as I am sure someone will beat 48 points.

according to my fingers that puts 3 teams on 39 points You didn't use both hands then Ian.....!! :P ;D ;D 5 points for each leg, plus the point for the match win puts Zeds on 40 points, level with Droops and 1 point ahead of CKRBL & Sportsman. :'( Back to back 5-0 wins for the Champions..... can they make it 3 in a row at the Royal Oak tonight to end the year in style? 8-) ;D

Sportsman 2 Brewers Bravos 3
DA-DM 240 - 5,340 XPTG A good opening break of about 1.5k from Adam, but Colleen came back well and was closing him down when she unfortunately clipped the black peg trying to move a ball from behind the 10 hole. Adam got the break back straight away to make sure of the win. 0-1 :(
Sir Trevor 1,480 - 890 Lynn Moyes Robb Neither player really got going in this game and the scores were very close until Trevor got a useful little break towards the end. 1-1 ;D
BB Warrior 1,870 - 3,910 Richard "Spud" Spurrier Spud opened up with about 1.8k and he kept scoring regularly with me unable to clear the balls. Eventually I got the break back with enough time to catch him but lost that score and next visit I pegged and gave him the break back. I managed to knock in 1.5k at the end to make it respectable, but full credit to Spud who thoroughly deserved his win. 1-2 8-) :'(
Lady Ros 3,320 - 650 Nikki Hinkins Ros somehow managed to Black Peg her opening break shot and for a long time the scores were very close. Ros eventually got the break back a couple of times to make the game safe. 2-2 ;D
Gary Foster 1,100 - 1,940 Paul Moyes Robb Another game that never really got going, but Paul kept more scores and Gary never really looked like catching him. 2-3 :(
Well played the Bravos on an enjoyable evening, too much food as always (sarnies, chips, onion rings & roast potatoes) for us to manage, although we had a good go at it! ;)

Watermill B 1 - 4 Laughing Fish
Paul Blackburn 1390 vs 8960 H
I opened with 1k, but was caught out by a left hand roll near the 50. After a bit of messing around I got the balls back for a 4.8k break, and then tidied up with another 1k to win!
Sabina Williams 730 vs 2760 Chris Ashford
Sabina underhit her 2nd break. Chris went on with just under 1000. He made another 1k late on to take a solid win.
Gavin Boyd 1180 vs 5620 Jim Ashford
Jim was off after 700 after a very nice touch up to a ball in the middle of the table. After some top of table play, Jim got them back to make consecutive 1.6k and 1.5k breaks and get a very well earned win for the Fish!
Martin Range 1610 vs 870 Ray Carpenter
Martin pegged his opening break. Ray raked up a score of about 1.2k in a few goes, but sadly due to an overhit shot knocked over the black peg. He then battled to get his lead back but didn't quite get there.
Tony Williams 200 vs 3770 Andy Brooks
After underhitting his first break, Andy got back on for a nice break of 2k. A few medium sized breaks amounted to the final score, with Tony hitting the black peg, but getting the last ball in the 200 as the consolation.
Another good night, with plenty of banter, a decent spread of food with Hot Dogs and roasties.

Back to back 5-0 wins for the Champions..... can they make it 3 in a row at the Royal Oak tonight to end the year in style? 8-) ;D Funny you should say that, and perhaps we were inspired by a framed enlarged version of the BB Warrior's avatar on the wall at the back of the table. ;D ;D Thanks to the ladies who were really good sports one and all, and to the landlady for the great food (tasty quiche, stuffed peppers, cottage cheese and smoked salmon canapes, chilli con carne, lemon chicken and cheesy chips) - one of the best spreads yet. Won't bore you with the scorecard but Graham got 5k, tommo 10k, Mick 3k and Barry 4.5k. Johnny Haigh's game against Lyn Storr had a tense finish, scores were level on the board and John had to go close to the black to touch a ball behind the 10 hole to keep a break of 200 - or he could have played off the side cush and missed, and it would have been down to a last ball decider. Not sure what I would have done, but he took the bold option and managed to pull it off to make it three five-nils since last Wednesday. :o :o :o

Saints 4 Hurst A 1 Foggers 1370 Andy Hall 1300 Foggers stole it with last ball 100
Bob Ellis 1640 theoldfella 1290 theoldfella pegged after the bar, turned away in disgust, when he looked the back the red had 'gone', and with it the game. I believe the moment was captured on CCTV. If I can get a DVD of this I will send it to you Roy.
Girliefosters 1950 Bobhall 3110 Good game from Bob, who threatened to do the break 4 times, but resisted. Balls of steal.
Neil Henry 1750 Peter Hall 1690 Neil stole this with 200 last ball
Thespecialone 3560 Steph 540 In best Saint's tradition, my team gave their support to Steph, willing their captain to defeat. I struggled on and dissapointed them.
Thanks to the Hurst for a friendly match, on what was a difficult evening for the Saints. The table had a bad righthand role, which I was unable to sort out before the match. Neil Henry undertaken to try and get us a new cloth fitted on the table, which is well overdue. TSO

Funny you should say that, and perhaps we were inspired by a framed enlarged version of the BB Warrior's avatar on the wall at the back of the table. ;D ;D If I remember rightly from last time I was at the Royal Oak, there's a Dark Star Brewery pic behind the table? Could it be the hobgoblin one? ;) :o ;D Just to clarify on my game last night, I didn't black peg an opening break, I actually black pegged the opening break shot! An unexpected whip on the RH 50, the ball sailed straight for the black peg and demolished it, :o I can only think that I hadn't spotted a ball correctly. Congrats to the Bravos, they played well for their win.

The Minister for Sport has been asked to put in hand a special enquiry regarding Foggers and the vanishing red ball - the man's a cad :'(

At the risk of being called up on a 'foul' for banter, I'll try and answer your two points, Ros. The Hobgoblin poster is there, but to the left of the larger framed demonic creature. :o
And sounds like you needed to put a bit of left on your break shot if it went too far right, hit the right hand edge of the pocket and did an anticlockwise twirl ! ;)

Hurst B 4 CKRBL 1 ;D ;D appologies to the Klieners for the awkward table. The club are in the process of putting down carpet tiles in the bar over the old tiles but they have moved the table & put the front legs on carpet screwing the brackets through the tiles but haven't done the edges yet so the back legs are still on the vinal tiles but it was the same for both teams.
Chris Kirkham 2150 Dereck taylor 1630 Iang 3480 Ted Stringer 1120 John Lear 1930 Shaky Coles 810 Steve King 1740 Peter Edwards 4450 Darrell Skinner 2260 Dilly 1590
Peter was the one who got his head down When they finnish carpeting we will check the table.

:( The Hurst table is by far the best table I have played on all season and was host to my top interleague score. It will be a shame if it can't be restored to how it was!

Two missing writeups, now supplied for us by the Old Fella:
Just 8.1/2 points separate the top from the bottom of the Premier League.
Droops 2, Plough 3 Plough keep their slender lead following their away win at Droops. Geoff Parsons put Plough into an early lead but The Farmer hit a big 5890 to square it. Des Gasson put his side into the lead once again only to see Sir Jock hit a great 8290 to bring it back even. Malc Fuller went off with a 3700 break and finished with a big 6130 to grab that all important last winning leg.
H/H USC 0, Watermill A 5 The A Team continues almost unopposed at the top of division 1 with a lead of 13.1/2 points over second placed Laughing Fish. This week, the A team went to the United Services Club and came away with all of the points. 4 wins on the trot for Rodney Storr, John Staplehurst, Kim Stenning and Big Norm put the match out of the reach of USC who could field only 4 players giving the last point to the visitors.
