Tonight Frau von P brought me my prescription for a foot infection (no not that foot :-/ something a bit shorter and not that sort of infection :o) Problem is I can't drink for 5 days :o :o :o FIVE DAYS...120 HOURS !!! FvP says the quack (wot does he know :P) says if I drink alcohol with the tablets I will get a blinding hangover and see flashing lights ::)
Apart from the fact I normally have blinding hangovers and outrun the blue flashing lights I am a trifle concerned and am hoping the forum will give me some solace or at least a solution to my problem ???
I cannot survive this length of time without proper sustinence so welcome any suggestions such as where the 'kin hell can I buy alcohol patches or which sleeping tablets last for 5 'kin days :( Thanking you in advance :-* :P

If they're just antibiotics, then I wouldn't take any notice of the Doctor 8-)

Sorry to hear that HVP, I know how you feel, i had problems with my tonsills, and used to get an absist the size of a bar billiard ball form in the back of the throat until they were removed April this year. But before they allowed me to have the opperation i was put on Diclifenic (excuse the spelling) and dicodramol (again excuse the spelling) and i was put on these for 2 weeks at a time, so i was taking them for about 6 months. I was not ment to drink with any of them but I did! there were no side affects abart from getting drunk quicker. Now my question is if i had not drunk for the 2weeks i had been on them, would the absist have gone away? and would i have been able to drink again after without it coming back? Or was it because i was drinking with tablets the absist did come back so i was on the poxy things for 6months? I hope you can find away of drinking with out causing any problems.

Interesting comments from the Reaper, but it makes you wonder what the scythe's for - other than whipping the abcess out with one deft cutting stroke. ;D
All I can suggest for H/V/P is that he indulge in a bit of voyeurism....... buy the pint and then watch while someone else drinks it for you. ;) ;)
But then you shouldn't notice much difference as you usually manage to spill most of it anyway! ;D ;D ;D

Metronidazole is an antibiotic that may produce unpleasant side effects when taken with alcohol. These effects include:
flushing, feeling sick, vomiting, headache, dizziness, and palpitations.
All sounds quite normal to me ;D ;D The bad news is you should not drink for an additional 48 hours after completing the course!
I'll dedicate my forst half dozen to you tonight ;D

Thank you for your really helpful and sympathetic comments lads ;D Yes sorry about that, the Reaper was trying to be helpful, but the forum hierarchy have probably just made the situation worse. ;D ;D Let me now wish you and your foot a speedy recovery, and that you will soon be back to normal ways (such as falling over with the cue into the gutter, etc) 8-) 8-) 8-)

??? Quote from Trusted Medical Website: "Do not drink alcohol while you are taking metronidazole and for at least 3 days after you stop taking it. You may have unpleasant side effects such as fast heartbeats, warmth or redness under your skin, tingly feeling, nausea, and vomiting"
Didn't your coat suffer bad side effects in Bournemouth one year? ;D
Jel has also been known to get CIDER fects!

some more info for you buddy
What are the possible side effects of metronidazole?
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
seizures (convulsions); fever, chills, body aches, sore throat, flu symptoms; numbness or tingling in your hands or feet; white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips; pain or burning when you urinate; or diarrhea that is watery or bloody.
Less serious side effects may include:
nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea; headache, dizziness, loss of balance; vaginal itching or discharge; dry mouth or unpleasant metallic taste; cough, sneezing, runny or stuffy nose; or swollen or sore tongue. This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.

Cheers for that cheery message Mr Reaper ;) I have noticed I don't suffer from loss of balance since I have taken the tablets instead of beer and the only side effect I have really noticed so far is Frau vP didn't look quite as pretty as she normally does when I get back late on a Friday night :-X A long Saturday night ahead and day 3 tomorrow :(
........oh and I haven't had any vaginal itching so far but I have been scratching my butt quite a lot ::)
...........and if Frau vP reads this I may have difficulty breathing :-[

Completely normal condition for H/V/P ;) or unpleasant metallic taste; Now, a sudden liking of Motorhead - that might be a cause for concern. :o
