Please note that the Sportsman table has now been moved to the Hurst Club for the Sussex Comps this weekend and is therefore not available to play any individual matches on at present.
I will post here as soon as it has been placed in it's "home" again, which will be sometime next week.

The Sportsman table is being moved today to a new venue, as shown below:-
The Eight Bells The Street Bolney West Sussex RH17 5QW
Tel: 01444 881396
This will be our new "home" for Mid-Sussex and (hopefully, subject to approval from the League) also Lewes.
We have our first League match there on Wednesday evening, which will give us a chance to set up the table correctly and it will therefore be available for any competition matches from Thursday 15th January onwards. 8-)
Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause, unfortunately circumstances outside of our control meant that we had no alternative but to move. :'(

Sacre bleu, Warrior, for you that's your fourth venue in two years (White Horse, Hurst, Sportsman, Eight Bells) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
As the Beach Boys sang......"Round, round, get around, I get around" ;D
On a serious note, hope the team (and table!) settles in well to its new venue. We enjoyed the Sportsman (with its good food etc) while it lasted.
The Eight Bells though has a good tradition -in Horsham League as well as Mid Sussex. Good choice.

Fourth venue in 3 years really Tommo, not 2. :P ;D ;D Even though a couple of those moves were not really my choice or decision....... certainly 6 months ago I had no intention of leaving any of the 3 teams I played for last season, but circumstances changed that meant that I left all 3....... :o so if you add the 2 venues in Lewes in 2 years and 2 venues in Worthing in 1.5 seasons...... plus a guest appearance in Horsham this year...... I guess that the Beach Boys song is pretty appropriate! :-[ ;) Have to say that I was to hear that we were leaving the Sportsman, fantastic venue, excellent food and the staff and owners always made us feel very welcome there. :'( :'( I am yet to visit the Eight Bells, although I am aware of the history that the pub has with Bar Billiards and that it is a good venue. I hear that the Landlord is very keen to have a team there, food is good and that it has a solid floor which should mean that (hopefully!) we can get the table playing consistently well. 8-) ;D Looking forward to our first game there tomorrow night against the Laughing Fish...... especially as H won't have had a chance to play the table since the move as we haven't had a Lewes match there yet! ;D ;D ;D

The curse of the Nomads strikes again ;D
You'll like the pub Dave, I cant remember it having a solid floor though, and space used to be a bit tight but its a lovely pub.

Yes, I have been told that we won't have as much room there, but apparently they are blocking off a doorway somewhere to enable us to position the table there and give us as much room as possible. 8-) I believe that it is a brick floor in that part of the pub, so we shouldn't have the problem of the top end of the table slowly sinking at least! ::) Hoping to be able to get up there early tomorrow to have a good knock on the table and see how it plays...... it was amazing how different it felt playing it at the Hurst Club last night but, with a bit of time spent setting it up correctly, I think we could see some pretty decent scores being made on it. ;D ;D ;D

Agreed. I played a game on the table on saturday and seeing that we were playing Barry Holt and Dave France, didn't get a huge amount of time on it. But, by the second leg I manage to get the break back and play it out pretty effortlessly (shame I wasn't left enough time to amass a winning score). The only problem it was quite slow, but once you get the pace its very nice!

The Nomads return home.
It all started at the Eight Bells I believe, then Queens Head, Wheatsheaf, Victory, Wheatsheaf, Sportsman and any others I can not recall.

Thanks for posting David, I can confirm that the table is now installed, but we may still move it to the other end of the bar. This won't be done before Weds. I'll try to work around competition bookings too. If anyone has singles or doubles booked, please can they let me know as well as booking it with the pub? The Nomads return home. It all started at the Eight Bells I believe, then Queens Head, Wheatsheaf, Victory, Wheatsheaf, Sportsman and any others I can not recall. Not quite the full list Trevor! Eight Bells 'B', Bolney Stage 'B', Queens Head, Eight Bells, Wheatsheaf Albourne, Victory, Wheatsheaf Cuckfield, Sportsman, Eight Bells. The Eight Bells 'A' went to the Bolney Stage and from there to Hurst Social, where they remain to this day.
