Sportsman (Eight Bells) 1 - 4 Laughing Fish
Ros Appleby 1020 vs 9750 H
I opened up with a steady 8.5k, the first 3k pretty slow while I got used to the top but then got comfortable on the break and split and knocked in the rest.
Colleen Park 730 vs 1470 Les Whiteman
Most of this game up the end of the table with Les just edging it!
Trevor Appleby 1000 vs 2280 Ray Carpenter
Again another end of table game with Ray scoring that few more than Trevor.
Dave Ingram 6890 vs 1350 Andy Brooks
A slow start for both but a 3.5k break midway for Dave plus a few smaller breaks were more than enough.
Tony Driver 1070 vs 2780 Keith Fantom
And a third up the end game but with Keith knocking in the points where it counted!
Many thanks to my Monday night team for the match tonight, nice new venue but very cramped with the position of the table at the moment.

Well played the Fish who throughly deserved their victory tonight. ;)
Excellent opening break from H showing a nice range of shots before he settled into the split shots..... I was starting to worry that my high away break would be in real danger at one stage but H made the right choice and touched up to ensure the win when the balls got a bit tricky. 8-)
Certainly, the combination of a darts match and our game put a lot of pressure on a fairly small area which could prove tricky in the future. :-/

It took a Special One to halt the Zed's sequence of 5-0 wins.
Matt Geal 1160, Barry Timson 1730 GirlieFosters 1990, tommo 2200 Ray Fogwill 720, MrMike007 5790 SpecialOne 3140, GrahamDaniels 2790 Bob Ellis 1000, Johnny 'Aceed' Haigh 4770
The table SpecialOne after weeks of preparation of the St Francis table, getting it playing to perfection and straight as a dye, had been distraught to find that on Monday Tarratts had been in and installed one of the 'new slate' tops. I must say that the cloth is a good'un with plenty of pace, and I was offered the courtesy of testing balls and they went straight to the 50,30 and 20 pockets, but this was only after a renewed effort from SpecialOne as when installed it had been virtually unplayable (downhill, and cueball doing a complete bypass of the cush on the break shot.) :o :o :o There are a few problems such as the red ball getting stuck and a left hand cushion made of concrete, but all things considered SpecialOne has done an amazing job in a limited time.
The match It was fitting therefore that he should be the one to inflict the damage of a frame taken off the Zeds, but it would have to be poor Graham who drew the short straw again - I keep seeming to draw him against the best player. The scores more or less reflect how it went, very few pegs tonight. The first two games were very tentative and could have gone either way. Thanks to our opponents for a very pleasant evening, and we leave knowing we got away with it rather - playing the new top before the home team really get to know it well and play it with confidence.

Watermill B 2 Greyhound 3
Paul Goodwin 1140 Gavin Boyd 1800 Peter Burchell 4370 Martin Range 2390 Trevor Rees 3760 Sabina Williams 2150 Geoff Fairs 2230 Tony Williams 2740 Neil Burchell 5990 Paul Blackburn 1850
Paul pegged his opening break and never got it back in a fairly scrappy first game. Peter played a steady game continuing his good run. I sat on an early lead and pegged a 1k break later only to get a fright when Sabina hit a very nice 1k and looked like catching me. Geff playing with a cracked rib never managed to get the break back and lost in a close game. Neil sealed the victory for us with the best score of the night.
Table pretty good if a little tricky at the top end.
Good company and food as always.

rob hall 9530 Richard spurrier 320 Well Played Bobhall, Sorry i couldn't make it to the beggining of the match and only saw the last couple of minutes before the bar dropped. But what i did see i was very impressed with, Very calm, and steady. Your 10k is only round the corner, and if you keep playing like you did last night it it wont be too many corners away ;) Well Done Buddy ;) :)

Many thanks to my Monday night team for the match tonight, nice new venue but very cramped with the position of the table at the moment. Yes, the current position of the table is not suitable as it does not give enough room on match nights...... however I believe that this could be changed before our next home match and the table could change places with the dart board and go back to where it used to be in the "old days". :-/ The table certainly attracted a lot of interest from the locals...... sadly, not all of the right kind when we first arrived to practice before the match. >:( >:( Personally, I shall have to reserve judgement on the suitability of the venue until the table has been moved..... :-/ :-X ......and the village idiot has been thrown in the stocks! ;D ;D ;D

As the poor unfortunate who was on the receiving end of Bobhalls performance, i would just like to say well done! It might have been my most dismal night in a Brewers shirt but you got the break back every single time i left the table. Considering i was the opponent you got your first 5k score against, i shall enjoy being there when you get a 10k break/play out a table/break a world record or something. Anyway, despite our team getting broken last night, we still had a good laugh so cheers for a good evening.

Personally, I shall have to reserve judgement on the suitability of the venue until the table has been moved..... :-/ :-X ......and the village idiot has been thrown in the stocks! ;D ;D ;D they were by the wall outside the first door we went in before we had to go round to the other door.... as for reserving judgement, i agree but i also had a very bad first impression. so, in the words of thumpers' father in Bambi - "if you can't say somethin' nice - don't say nuthin' at all"...... BTW - well done BOBBLE !!! ( i know it's spelt different but never mind).

One other result I have heard this morning.....
White Horse 1 Plough 4
Plough will remain top of the Premier, just half a point ahead of Greyhound with the defending champions Zeds close behind. The next 2 places will be filled by the 2 Hurst Club Teams, the order will depend on the Droops v Hurst B result with a bit of a gap to the other 3 teams.

I'm pleased to be able to confirm that I will be moving the table tomorrow to the other part of the bar, it will go in the same corner as last time we were at the Bells. I will then be able to monitor it over the weekend for any settling down.
I remember Sparky being happy that the floor there (although wooden) was a great deal more stable than the floor at the Queens Head.
Last time we had to share that space with the darts and a full sized pool table, this time it's only us and a half sized pool table. Wazz has promised to get a hard cover made up for the pool table at the same time as he gets the new backboard/door made for the darts (work starts tomorrow)
I'm sorry that first impressions weren't great - at least some of that is due to everyone having to react in a fair hurry. :'(
Congrats to H on a good break and score! 8-) Sorry I foiled your plans for 10k, but it serves you right for parking the balls in rotten places for me ;)
Congrats also to Boball! 8-)

HH USC 2 - 3 CK RBL
Sparky 10,030 - 1,470 Ted Stringer Ted got about 1k, I got the break back and came off with nearly 6K, we then got a few more before I made another 3+k break up to last ball which l got at the second attempt.
Andy Short 1,830 - 5,610 Dilly Williamson Andy didn't do nearly enough with his break against Dilly who took a bit of time to sort out the table but then pulled well clear.
Mick Kirwan 1,820 - 4,200 Peter Edwards Pete played well and Mick didn't.
Richard Kirwan 830 - 6,380 Derek Taylor Richard was called in at the last minute and his lack of practice, and as a newbie it, showed. Derek again took time to sort the table but eventually got there.
Terry Gasson 4,660 - 850 Jenny Edwards Our newest signing (or 'ringer' as Jenny joked ;D) got on well with the top, for a first game and against the break, and Jenny didn't get much in the way of luck.
Thank you Kleiners for a good evening. The cheese selection was as impressive as usual with Pete offering to take it home ;D

Brewers Droops 5 Hurst B 0 :o :o :o :o :o
And the Brewers battle to stay off the bottom continues with a resounding and unexpected 5-0 whitewash over the bee's. ;) ;)
Andy Farmer Wright 9750 ;D Chris Kirkham 240 :'( Captain Farmer leading of tonight, Chris missed his break :o and Andy promptly downed 2k, :) Chris tried to come back but to no avail and pegged his 600. :-[ And that was it for Chris I'm sorry to say, Andy played the rest of the table time out wth a commanding 7550 break. 1-0 :D
Lorraine Hall 6230 ;D John Lear 4170 :-/ Cracking match this, mama hall off early from the break, John off like his namesake jet to take a comfortable lead of about 3k with another excellent break. ;D But mama hall fought back with a superb break of 4k+ :o to win the match. And mama hall was playing the split. ::) 2-0 :D :D
Colin Humphrey 2600 :D Steve King 2210 >:( You could forgive ole noddy here for thinking he was being lead like the lamb to the slaughter, ::) but not to be, not this night of nights. A scrappy match all in all, with neither player really taking to the front running. ??? Noddy kept it tight and kept his nose in front to take the third and give us the tie. 3-0 ;D ;D ;D
Richard Jeffrey 8890 ;D Ian Giffen 420 :P And onto yours truely, playing against a fellow team mate and friend is never easy, :-/ and after the way I played on tuesday in horsham league, ??? someone was on for a hammering tonight, :P and that someone was unfortunatly young Giffers. :-* I opened with 2k+, which with a struggling Ian, probably would have been enough. But I got the break back and played the remaing time out for 5800. 4-0 (sorry Ian) ;D ;D ;D ;D
Fred Jones 1890 :o Darrell Skinner 1110 :o :o And so the second of our 'lambs' stepped up to the plate for a mauling that never came! :P An out of sorts Darrell seemed to struggle to string a few pots together, :-/ meanwhile Fred just kept slipping the small numbers and nudged ever further in front. :D Daz rallied towards the end, but it was too little to late. 5-0 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Superb night, with some top notch breaks going in. Top of the notch also on the food front with Mike serving up a superb chilli. Brilliant company with much barricking dished out to all concerned. Having had to perform open tip surgery on my poor be-tipped cue, I was just as surprised as Ian at having played so well. Brilliant captains game to lead us of, and mama halls comeback was the match of the night.

Thanks Ian, I am glad to finally do the table justice and some of our opposition this week could easily have scored more heavily as shown by the later part of their games. I have spent a lot of time recently trying to get the table playing to it's best and think it's nearly there, knowing it's inherent draw backs ;D and an average game aggregate of 7,500 is pretty good considering the that some of my team are nowhere near that level....yet.
If anybody who is due to play at the USC (in competition of course) lets me know when I will try to ensure it is ready.
I would like to add my congratulations to Bobble ;D, and the other high scorers like Big Andy, Jockster, Mr H, and quite a few others above 5K...hope I haven't missed any.

The one hitherto missing write-up, courtesy of the Old Fella, and a lulu of a match it was, too !
White Horse 1, Plough 4 Plough see-saw back into the lead above Greyhound after their away win against White Horse. Mark Webber in cracking form opened with an 8880 break and a final score of 10210. Trevor Howes hit a big 5930 for the Horse to bring it level. Keith Potter found the table to his liking, putting away a great 7780 to put Plough back into the lead. Malc Fuller took the fourth frame and the match, and a bit of icing for Geoff Parsons, hitting 6900 to wrap it all up for the visitors.
Also, the official line............. Royal Oak v Watermill A - p'pd The Royal Oak’s closure meant that their match against Watermill A was postponed until they find a new venue, believed to be on a second table at the Brewers – this is yet to be confirmed
