There were strong rumours going around at the weekend that the Royal Oak has now shut? :o
Does anybody know if this is true? ???
If so, what is happening with regards to the team there and their remaining matches this season..... hopefully they will find a new venue. ;)

Dave, I wouldn't post it if it wasn't true. Had a call from the captain, who is trying to sort new location and also fixture secretary is aware.

Sorry Lorraine, I hadn't seen the note you put on the bottom of the competition draws, must have been looking with my eyes shut! :-[ Shame to lose a new venue, hope the team are successful in finding a new home quickly, there must be pubs who would welcome the extra business at the moment. ::) If you are speaking to them, you might want to suggest that they talk to the Plough at Plumpton Green..... it's not a million miles away from where they were playing, there is a Lewes based team there already and the table is reasonably good. I don't know if they would want another team there, but I have already suggested to them that they might want to enter a team in Mid-Sussex next season in addition to their Lewes League team. The landlord & landlady (Ian & Mary) of the Plough used to run the White Horse in Ditchling and have always been very supportive of bar billiards and traditional pub games, so it might be worth a try for them. 8-)

Another possibility for the rest of the season at least would be the Greyhound as the home and away fixtures match, although I am sure Ian and Mary would welcome them.

Can confirm that Mike is putting another table down in the pool room at the Brewers to help the Royal Oak out. Table should be in before next wed.
Sorry its not a 'new' venue, but it is in a different building! lol

Sorry its not a 'new' venue, but it is in a different building! lol Since we allowed too much travelling time (to allow for arctic conditions! ;)) we arrived a bit early for our match on the main Brewers table last night, so we had a quick knock on the "new" Royals table...... Sir Jock advised that it had been moved since the match played there last week, where some of the scores seemed pretty reasonable. 8-) First impressions were pretty good, break and one up both went fine apart from Red Ball coming inside a bit............ but after that it became a lot more interesting!! :o :o I don't think that I have ever played a table that rolled so much in one particular place....... (more than a whole ball roll in less than half of the table length - and in an area that you really don't want it to!) ....... and yet was still pretty level (although downhill) elsewhere...... :o ::) ??? ??? ??? But, apart from that one (major!) quirk, the rest of the table played well and I'm sure it will just be a case of giving it some time to settle down and then levelling it up properly. ;) I wish the ladies & Russ well in their new home and will look forward to playing there later this season.
