With the second half of the season starting and a couple of "derby" matches to be played...... I thought I would give things a kick-start here...... ;D
I will put my thoughts down on a "match-by-match" basis...... and then look forward to everybody shooting me down in flames! :o ;D

Bravos v Droops
The first of our derby matches with the Bravos looking for revenge for the 3-2 defeat they suffered at the start of the season. After a run of 5 straight defeats, the Droops hit form taking the paint pot to Hurst B and the big guns will be looking to maintain that sort of form. I would predict an away win here for the Droops. ;)

HH USC v Hurst B
Hurst B had a comfortable 4-1 win against the "new boys" in the opening week and will be keen to bounce back from their mauling at the Droops last week...... but an in-form Sparky on the nice USC top will have other ideas. It will be interesting to see who wins when these two meet in the cup this week, but I would predict another away win here though, with the B's possibly having slightly too much fire power. ::)

White Horse v CKRBL
CKRBL have often struggled at the White Horse and had to come from 0-2 down to beat them at home in the first game. But the new top at the Hornless Unicorn is now much better than in days of old and I think the White Horse would need a very favourable draw to upset the odds in this one. ::)

Royal Oak (Brewers) v Plough
Another match where we will have a "preview" this week in the Plate at USC. The Premier division leaders visiting the side who are bottom of Division 1. ::) The ladies (& Russell! ;)) will be hoping that their new home will give them their first victory of the season but it's hard to look beyond an away win for the Plough here..... ;)

Watermill B v Watermill A
The other derby match, won comfortably 4-1 by the A Team at the start of the season. Big Norm will be looking to maintain his unbeaten run and for his team to keep extending their lead at the top of Division 1. ;)

St Francis v Greyhound
A tricky match this for the in-form Greyhound, whose run of 9 consecutive victories has taken them to within half a point of the top of the Premier Division. The Saints will be hoping to get used to their new top and keep their own promotion push going. This match could be down to the luck of the draw....... :-/

Sportsman (Eight Bells) v Handcross Z
The second week running for these 2 teams to play each other and the in-form defending champions will be keen to maintain their winning ways in the League....... and gain revenge for the surprise 3-2 defeat they suffered at home in the first game of the season. :o
The Zeds have only lost 1 leg in their last 5 matches and have shot up the Premier table to 3rd place, led by Tommo's run of 9 straight wins which has taken him up to 2nd place in the Premier Players List, which he won last year...... no doubt he will be very keen to show why the "Sportsman" table is top of his Tables Table at our new venue. 8-) ;D
In comparison, the home side languish at the bottom of the Premier Division having lost their last 3 games and have to get used to their table in a new position after their heaviest home defeat of the season at the hands of the Giggling Kippers last week. :'(
On paper, it looks like a comfortable win for the visitors...... :P

Hurst A v Laughing Fish
H announced his arrival in the Mid-Sussex League with a stunning score of 16,900 in the reverse fixture and I know that he has targetted this match as a good opportunity to try to beat my high away break and scores...... :P ;D ;D
The Fish won the first match 3-2 and currently sit in 2nd place in Division 1, but Hurst A Captain Bobhall is also a man on form at the moment with 10 straight wins in the League and he will be keen to keep his own team pushing their way up the Premier Division.
The result of this game will probably be decided by the draw.... and what team the Hurst A are able to put out this week. ::)

I had in mind to do a sort of 'half-term report' on all the sides but never got round to it. This is just as good a service...... The Zeds will be tackling both fixtures with the usual 'laid back' approach and will be hoping to gain enjoyment out of the evenings, win or lose. Nothing is certain in bar billiards, though, and a combination of one new table in a venue and one table in a new venue will certainly present a challenge. (The award to which you referred was 'only' a runner's-up by the way. Still an honour though.)

(The award to which you referred was 'only' a runner's-up by the way. Still an honour though.) Sorry, you are quite correct Tommo....... 'only' runner-up last year, but WINNER of the Premier Player of the year for the previous 2 seasons! An impressive record that..... :o 8-) ;D ;D Our Cup match at the Plough next week will be interesting, as you say a new table to have a look at...... truly a "neutral" venue! ;D Hopefully, by the week after, we will be feeling a bit more at "home" at the our new venue and the table will have settled down in it's new position...... :-/

I've been in tonight and made some minor adjustments after settling down. Just one tall table needs moving out of the way; our lights will be put up on Tuesday at the same time the darts board goes into its new position.

hopefully, our runaway ringer will be available next week - and will bring her good form back with her, if selected of course......... ::) she's a bit scared now........ :-[ :-/ :'( I haven't performed well at all for the whole season and then go and get my personal best break (3.5k) and score (7060) in another league.....( ;D :o ::)) How can i return with that sort of expectation over me ? it was probably just a fluke or my lucky day - (none of which i seem to get at 'home'), but one which i would hope i can repeat /match/better. It was a real treat to return to my old hunting/stomping ground of west sussex and good to see some old friends. ;D ;D ;D

With advance apologies to the ladies for straying of topic, but Ros has mentioned the resurgence of the Brewers as a quality table - and our latest 'Tables table' would seem to confirm this: Top of table: 1 Eight Bells (ex-Sportsman) 2 Greyhound 3 Laughing Fish 4 Handcross 5 Brewers IAs you can see, it's up to 5th, whereas in week 5 it was second-to-bottom (in 11th place). Well done, Ros, in winning your singles. My lads are looking forward to the trip out tonight to play on currently the BEST table in the league. Having to miss out on such a treat personally as Margo and I are going to see Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen at Horsham. :o :o :o That's twice you have avoided us this season then Tommo....!! At least it will give me a chance to go above you in the Players List, if I'm lucky enough to win my match of course! ;D ;D Hopefully, the table will be playing well enough to justify it's top position tonight...... it will be interesting to see how the scores compare with some of the other tables as the second half of the season gets under way! 8-) Hope you enjoy Kenny Ball, supposed to be very good..... 8-)

St Francis lost 3-2 to the greyhound. A competative game played in a good spirit The first game was ruined by the fact that the table had been tampered with. One of the front legs had been wound right up shortly before the game. My Thanks to Trevor and his team for allowing me to wind it down again. My appologies to the players who had to suffer the first game. We think we know what happened, and I am told the CCTV will be looked at.# Shaun

It was the anniversary of our getting together, the show was brilliant, and we capped the evening with a chinese (sweet and sour chicken balls, beef and mushroom, special fried rice and sweet and sour sauce) and a couple of Tiger beers. :P :P 8-) And from the result, I wasn't missed at all. ;)
