I am happy to announce that as of today I am taking time off of Bar Billiards in the league.
During this season I have become soo frustrated at the standard of Tables in this county that I actually can't be arsed to play.
Awareness of Table standards in this division are known by most. But nobody can be bothered to correct it. Teams here actually use this to have "home" advantage. Saddos.
Section 1 CADBBA Rule Book 1. Tables must be LEVEL and in good playing CONDITION
Read it for yourselves on page 1.
Oh, but that 1st rule is broken 90% of the time ::) but hang on, if I hit a peg does that mean I don't lose my score ::)
Shows you how much of a mockery this league is in, or hang on I might not play using the D spot guess I'll get away with it like teams do with their table.
If the Floods fold I hold the teams with poor tables in responsibilty.

Johnny, in Cambridge you're a big fish in a small pond, and you were bound to get bored with that eventually.
I bet you wish now that you'd taken up Hammy's offer of a place in his team.....a fresh challenge needed from the sound of it, where you would not necessarily be the best player in the team to begin with.
I still love my bar billiards, and a lot of that is down to playing in teams where all our players are more or less evenly matched, and all of us try to give of our best (though it doesn't always work !)
Hope you get yourself sorted, I know that so far bar billiards has played an important part in your life. You must make time for it again, especially if you are to achieve your goal of becoming World Champion: If anything the top players like KT and Nigel are getting even better. :o :o

So you don't want to play the revenge match against your old team on the 2nd Feb?

Johnny I understand your Frustration. Last night I played on the Swan top in Worthing and found it nearly unplayable, and yet my opponent, who is a county player playing on his home tope knocked in 16k against me - the amount of left hand roll was stupid yet he still did it. I understand your frustration though, I found the same thing playing in Lewes - but luckily in Sussex we have a good choice of leagues and I am finding the mid-sussex league this year far more "accomodating". Stick with it is what I say. You are a capable player and giving up now will acheive nothing. I get very distraught, especially on Thursday - I am trying to work my way up the ladder and yet sitting watching already established players knocking big scores past me gets me nowhere - you just have to stick at it. Nigel Senior, Chris Reeves and Chris Tupper are all in my Thursday night team - very seasoned and experienced players and amongst the best in the country - they tell me the same thing - stick with it!
Don't let the bad attitudes of certain (forgive for using this term) lower players get you down. I'll see you soon in the final at Jersey ;)
