We now have a new system in place for the Sussex Rankings. As usual the top 24 players will qualify for the Sussex Masters in June. thanks to Mal Spier, Dave Jones, Clive Thompson and Dave Ingram for their help at getting to this new system
Sussex Rankings Rules 2008/09
1) Sussex Comps – all Sussex comps attract ranking points (apart from captains and seniors) and are based on matches won. Score bonuses are awarded.
Singles Competitions – in all matches 1 point awarded for a leg win, 1 point awarded for the aggregate win, therefore 3 points awarded in total for each match. In addition ranking points will be awarded as follows
a) Men’s singles : Winner 25 pts, R-up 20 pts, S-Final 15pts, Q-Final 10 pts, Last 16: 5 pts
b) Ladies’ singles Winner 8 pts, R-up 5 pts, S-Final 2 pts,
Doubles Competitions – in all matches 0.5 points awarded for a leg win, 0.5 point awarded for the aggregate win, therefore 1.5 points awarded in total for each match. In addition ranking points will be awarded as follows
c) Men’s Doubles = Winner 12 pts, R-up 8 pts, S-Final 5 pts, Q-Final 2 pts,
d) Ladies’ Doubles = Winner 4 pts, R-up 2 pts.
e) Mixed Doubles = Winner 4 pts, R-up 2 pts.
NB: No points are awarded for a W/O or Bye
2) Inter League – Division 1 awards 5 points per win, Division 2 awards 3 points a win and Division 3 awards 2 point per win. A 0.5 bonus is awarded for a win against the break. Score bonuses are awarded, as follows
With Break
5,000 scored = 0.1 Ranking point
8,000 scored = 0.2 Ranking points
11,000 scored = 0.3 Ranking points
etc increasing by 0.1 ranking point for every 3,000 scored
Against Break
4,500 scored = 0.1 Ranking point
7,000 scored = 0.2 Ranking points
9,500 scored = 0.3 Ranking points
etc increasing by 0.1 ranking point for every 2,500 scored
3) 1 Day Interleague
Division 1 = 5 points per leg won plus SB
Division 2 = 3 points per leg won plus SB
B/C = 3 points per leg won plus SB.
Ladies one day now only count to ladies rankings only not for the Sussex Masters
An adjustment may be made to ensure that all players points are calculated on the equivalent amount of matches if there are a different number of matches are played in each division due to the varying number of teams.
4) Sussex teams (County Champs) –
Points to be awarded for matches won as per the following. Score bonuses to be awarded
Open Division 1 – 2 pts per win
Open Division 2 – 1.5 pts per win
Open Division 3 – 1 pt per win
Ladies Division 1 – 1 pt per win
Ladies Division 2 – 0.5 pts per win
5) Watney Mann (All England team KO)
1 point per leg won plus score bonus (SB) Against the break win bonus of 0.5 point to be awarded
