Laughing Fish 2 - 3 Handcross Z
Andy Brooks 3010 vs 5190 Mick Holmwood
Mick off at 500. He then got back on for a further 2.5k. A few medium breaks followed for both, with Mick then getting another 1k, and Andy back with a late 1.6k but not enough!
Jim Ashford 6330 vs 3770 John Haigh
Jim opened with 2k, and was soon back on for a further 1.5k. Jim back afetr a while with another 2k, and John finished with a consolation 3k break.
Les Whiteman 1820 vs 7300 Graham Daniels
Graham opened with 1.3k. Les replied with a solid 1.6k break, but Graham came back with 1.6k to match Les, and then followed later with a 4k break for a commanding win.
H 19630 vs 10 Tommo
I was determined to level the match and so went off with a 12.5k break. Clive scored 10 but then came off and I soon had the break back for a table playout of 7.1k (not quite quick enough for the 20!)
Chris Ashford 2180 vs 2210 Barry Timson
An incredibly scrappy game! Barry missed his first 1 up. Chris got a lucky red ball down the 200 during a break to just take the, and then followed with a 1k break but Barry came back and played the table out to win...just!
Cheers to the Handcross boys for a good match tonight. Apologies to Tommo, I didn't give him much table time, but as I said, I was determined!

Eight Bells 3 Watermill A 2
A rare defeat for the runaway Division 1 Leaders..... but the table proved to be the only real winner. >:(
Tony Driver 1,690 - 1,500 Norman Cragg :o Norman became the first table "victim", leaving the break short on his 2nd shot. Tony replied with about 800, Norm rocked the black peg with his next shot. Norm then got the break back, only to leave them both short again on his 3rd shot then successfully knocked the black peg over on his next visit. Norm battled hard to get back into a lead of about 400, but with the bar imminent Tony found his range on the 100 hole a couple of times and then put the last ball in the 100 hole at the 2nd attempt to gain a very unexpected victory. 1-0 :o
Pam Peacock 890 - 1,450 Chris Nikolaj Pam joined Norm in missing the break second time, Chris got the break back for 700 then left the 1-up short. The game became very scrappy after that with the balls at the back of the table, but Chris did enough to maintain his lead. 1-1 :-/
Sir Trevor 880 - 4,360 Kim Stenning A very solid 1.8k opener from Kim who was the only player from either side who got to grips with the table. Kim got the break back again but left a 50 shot short and a struggling Trevor was unable to take advantage. 1-2 ::)
Dave Ingram 3,120 - 170 John Willis I only opened with just over 1k, but was quickly back on the break again only to have the ball move on the D as I played a split shot, the ball spun out of the 100 hole and took out the white peg. After that the game became very scrappy with neither of us able to do much with the balls, John was unfortunate to take out the black peg going up the middle of the table when the ball looked as if it had moved on the D again. 2-2 >:(
Lady Ros 2,880 - 800 John Staplehurst Another scrappy game, with Ros getting a determined 1.7k break in the middle to bring a valuable victory. 3-2 :)
Enjoyable evening with our opponents very gracious in defeat and good company.
Sadly, since our last home game, the cloth on the table has been damaged next to the D. Although it has been stuck down, the ball will not now sit still on either edge and either tries to roll off the edge or onto the spot before (or while) you are playing a shot. :o >:(
This combined with an downhill left hand roll makes it challenging in many areas...... a shame, as 2 weeks ago when we played the Zeds it was pretty much level and playing as well as it ever had in the Sportsman. >:( :-X :-X :-X

Brilliant H, the 20k cant be far away, but you do realise that to get a Sussex 20k shirt you have to make it as a 20k BREAK :o

I too would like to congratulate Henry on his record performance. I know 20k's were got in the old days by the likes of Reg Beard before you were obliged to do the 'one-up' but H's score is certainly the highest in Mid Sussex for 30 years - probably 40. It was pretty to watch, and but for getting out of position two or three times - but always able to retrieve it with a well-chosen shot - he would have surely made the 20k. I joked with the Reaper last night that I would send two little prayers up - please God don't let me pick Henry - and if I do, please let me have first break - but I forgot to send up the prayers. ::) ::) Anyway Barry managed to pull the fat out of the fire in the last frame, and it was a pleasant evening made all the more pleasant by the Beef Stroganoff which was served up to the teams (and hungry locals who appeared as if by magic !) after the match.

Brewers v's White Horse MATCH POSTPONED!
Due to some ongoing building works at the whitehorse, our match had to be postponed. Thanks to The Whitehorse for a lovely evening regardless of the unplayed matches. Shame the footie didn't look as good as the table did.
Date for the re-match TBC but I think the 25th March was bandied about, as its a cup semi night and both teams are out of it already.

Day off work today ;D ;D Brewers Royals 2 Hurst B 3
as mentioned no score above 2000 shows it was difficult table virtually dead at the back end so many balls stopped on edge of pocket. Russell Jennings 180 Iang 1520 Russ lost most of his scores I got the break a couple of times but then in frustration Russ was hitting them harder & a ball came back on to the black.
Val Gritton 750 John ** John fell foul of the right hand roll & also took out the black peg Zoi Gritton 1010 Steve King 1910 Zoi put Steve under pressure but Steve kept plugging Jan Hinkins 1360 Chris Kirkham 1150 Jan was 20 behind as the bar dropped & played very well staying on the table & cleared every ball. Lyn Storr 590 Darrell 1750 a nervous game at one point I thought we were going to loose as Lyn got the break back but hit it too hard & it spun out & stopped next to the black peg. A visit from the doctor is needed !!!
Thanks to the Royals & to Mike & Wendy for the enormous bowl of chips & chicken nuggets

:BREWERS BRAVOS 4 U.S.C. 1
Lynne Moyes-Robb 1600 Chris Packham 390 A bit of a scrappy opener this one. Chris had the most unfrortunate game ever as the balls seemed to gravitate towards the pegs at all oppurtunities (including the black peg!). Lynne stuck on the table longer to open up our account. :)
Nikki Hinkins 1380 Terry Gasson 4130 Nikki began brightly with a nice opener of 900. With Terry struggling to find his range it looked like Nikki could have this one but eventually he got the balls back for a second go at the break and put on an excellent 3k to bring the scores level for his team. :'( :
Bravo: 6790 Ron Wales: 1800 A fairly comfy one for Captain Marvel this. Most of the damage was done early on as Bravo put on a couple of good breaks. Later on, Ron got back into the match with some excellent shots but didnt have enough time to catch the skip. :)
Paul Moyes-Robb: 5050 Graham Sparksman: 3260 Probably the best frame of the night. Paul started off with 1k and after some back board play, Sparky got them back to put on a good 2.6k break. Paul must love being under the cosh, however, as he immediatly responded with a excellent 3k break to run the time down and take the game and match. 8-) ;D
Spud: 2330 Andy Short: 790 Halfway through this match and i had to call for the scorer to bring back the nearest ball. One reading of War and Peace later (backwards) and i had compiled the slowest 1k break known to humanity but had at least got back on break....
Which i then missed. :o
Fortunately the bar was not too far away and i grabbed a victory. Andy was unlucky as he had done most of the early running but the balls would not quite drop for him.
Comiserations to the U.S.C. as they were superb opponents and we had a good laugh. All the best for the rest of the season.
P.S. Well played H. Looks like you let me off lightly last week! ;D Good luck in your singles tonight.

The 'missing' result and report now in from the Old Fella:
Watermill B 2, CKRBL 3 Kleiners lurk still mid table after their away win against the Bees. Ted Stringer and Derek Taylor put Kleiners into a 2 nil lead before Adie White grabbed the third frame for the home side. Pete Edwards played a captains part by taking frame 4 and the match. An important point for Gavin Boyd in the last to keep the Bees away from the bottom 2.
(League table updated accordingly.)
