Stadium 5 - 0 Marquis B
An evening when pretty much nothing went right for the visitors, who largely fell below their normal high standard. The first 4 home players all recorded 5 figure scores, your correspondent was the exception.
Game 1 - With Geoff Jukes away on international duty in Jersey, super sub Steve Mariner was pressed into service. Nick Brown pegged 1500, giving the break back to Steve in the process. He made 5k, but then got the balls back when Nick didn't, and that was that.
Game 2 - Grant Tully only opened with 2k not 10 v Tony Burgess, but Tony was unable to take advantage. Grant did return to make a 10k break, at the end of the leg.
Game 3 - Paul Barnett was off at 800, and Ian Lelliott's very first shot potted 3 balls and got the break back. He made 7k+ from this, but Barney had a 2nd chance with the break back. He never looked comfortable, however, and Ian returned to win easily.
Game 4 - Martin Smith put 4k on the board v Gary Ridley, who never retrieved the break. Martin would add a further 6k.
Game 5 - Neil Higgins looked solid for 3k, then pegged them when playing a ball on the lip of the left hand 50 hole. Mark James didn't get the break back, Neil did, but left the one-up short on 2k+. Mark made 4k+, leaving Neil just enough time if he could get the break back immediately, but he couldn't.
