I've had plenty of abuse from Kettering/Cobblers fans over the years, but you can't blame me for sticking up for my team! I would'nt say i'm plastic having been to over 300 home games over 15 years and still go now, even though we're a shower of 5hit these days! ;D ;)

I didn't mean you were plactic mate, I meant the team and the set up. ;D Ok fair enough. I know it was all a bit of a "play thing" for Max Griggs, but i spose if anyone had the chance to do what he did, they'd grasp it with both hands! :D

But at least the Fans now own the club, I believe, Big Stew - which cannot be a bad thing.
Like you I count myself a true football fan, having followed my lot since 1983 through good times and bad. I have around 250 match programmes to bear witness to the fact.
We must have been the very first club to have super-rich owners (Norwegian playboy billionaires) but they were not prepared to invest in the club without the guarantee of a return on the investment, which in turn depended on a relocation 70-odd miles away to M/K.
But, having started again from absolutely nothing, we are 6 points clear and poised to join you next year in the Blue Square Premier. We are re-living the dream, the Fans own the club, and the same mistakes won't be made again.

In the summer of 2005, Max Griggs handed over the club and certain assets to a supporters' trust, along with an initial cash pledge. In July 2006 Helen Thompson became chairman of Rushden and Diamonds FC. In November 2006, the club was taken over by former Peterborough United vice-chairman Keith Cousins. At the time Griggs left, I remember his act of benevolence being lauded. But now no Supporters Trust ? And the club in private ownership? Again, how did that happen ?

It did'nt really happen for the fans when they took over and Keith Cousins took over as owner and chairman of the club, with a little help from his friends!

More sad news today, as we could only manage a 9-0 away victory against a team above us in the league!

If by some miracle rushden scraped a playoff position and some one lost out on goal difference it would be a travesty.

Do you still play at Kingstonians old ground, Kings meadow?

The average age of the weymouth team was 19, where as ours was 22, so not much difference. I would have been happy with a 1-0 win, goal difference is no good to us, as we're not going anywhere!

Yes we bought Kingsmeadow off Kingstonian, they are now our tenants ! Looking forward to Kettering, Rushden, Oxford, Cambridge - and of course Crawley (on my doorstep) next year. There would suddenly be long journeys (eg York) however I've heard that there's talk of a massive shakeup involving Championship Div 2 and Blue Square Premier - combining them and then zoning into North and South. So there could yet be an additional derby with Northampton Town for you to look forward to as they're only two points ahead of the drop zone. ;D
