I was wondering which nights do leagues play on? We (Northants) play on a Monday, but, we used to play on a Thursday, it was moved at the time due to Pubs ' clubs seeing a Thursday as another Friday night so we basically moved to quiet Mondays. Does it really make any difference to which night matches are played on ? I would personally prefer to play on Thursday nights like we used to.

Does it really make any difference to which night matches are played on ? So in answer to Ian's question above, yes, it does matter - well, it does in Sussex. I have, for the last 40 years (with only three exceptions) played in 2 separate leagues. I started off playing Horsham on Tuesdays and Billingshurst on Wednesdays, but this has transformed into Redhill Tuesdays and Mid Sussex Wednesdays. They are equidistant from where I live, so - rather than distance - how competitive each league is will be a governing factor for which one I choose to play in. I have not discounted returning to Horsham and/or Billingshurst one day, as they are still good leagues. Several of my colleagues play in up to four leagues, but they live slightly nearer to the Sussex coast than I do. And it is convenient to keep Mondays and Thursdays free for any cup competitions that I am involved in.

No other hobbies, then, Kev ? ;D
I used to play Chess on Friday nights (captained Crawley III in the Mid Sussex League) and also entered four Congresses a year, but I had to hit that on the head eventually as I was out too much. :(

Portsmouth plays Wednesday nights League, and some Thursday nights Comp's. Only a couple of pubs have problems when football matches are on so the games get re-arranged if its going to be a problem.
Did have a Sunday league but thats before my time.

Hi Bb fans
Match nights....have recently re arranged a start time for a Sussex inter league match for a Sunday with a 5.30pm start time rather than a 7.30pm start time this enables our guests to get back home well before midnight.
Sounds to me like a good idea, wonder how many of you have the same thoughts, perhaps the start time could be mutually agreed with the captains rather than be fixed.
regs cs
PS i would like to propose at the Sussex AGM that ALL inter league matches should be ALL away breaks. Might rock the old boat a bit but if its better and fairer ...why not!
