I haven't posted a result for a while but thought I should try to keep doing so as many of you others are. It was a tough night for the Tap 2-0 down but won in the end 3-2.
Brad Wescott 10,780* - 570 Chris Reeves
Dave Bartrum 5,700* - 3,050 Richard Wooton
Izzy Roberts 1,780* - 4,290 Marc Chipman
Brian Bartrum 5,260* - 5,560 Gareth Lloyd
Pete Brown 120* - 15,770 Nigel Senior
Game 1 - Brad makes a superb 9,820 break giving Chris no chance. Brad is certainly a player with huge potential - a very natural player.
Game 2 - Dave Bartrum heaps more salt on Richard Brighton League wounds. Richard had a couple of attempts on the break but failed to overtake Dave score.
Game 3 - The Tap in trouble now and they looked to Marc Chipman to get themselves out of it. A few minutes into the game he has only one ball on the table but it is a couple of inches past the right hand 50 hole. He had options but chose the one only a player of his imagination would have thought of. I will try and explain without the aid of a diagram. Cue ball to the left of the right hand white peg, in between the 20 and 30 holes, off the back cushion, back past the right hand white peg, knocks the object ball into the 50, and he has hit it with such precision and perfect pace that the cue ball hits the cushion and also goes down the same 50 hole. A 3k break followed and the score now 1-2
Game 4 - Lloydy has saved the Tap's arse a few times and would somehow do so again. Brian's second break (which is kept in quite unorthdox fashion as he missed the ball completely on the right hand cushion but it somehow hit the back cushion and hit the ball from behind) puts him 4k up with 5 minutes left. Gareth gets the break back and stays on (I think the one-up rimmed the hole about 30 times before dropping on one occasion) and wins with about 300 to spare.
Game 5 - Decider Pete Brown misses his first break shot, and I make 7k and touch, and then 8k to finish. What were the other guys saying about the table being tough???
Good effort from the Duke who nearly took valuable points off us again. Good comeback from us and I would like to personally thank the right hand 50 pocket which accepted Gareth's one up even though it looked like it had initally spat it out and also took Marc's break back shot so nicely (although as Chris said Reggy would have called it a standard shot he plays all the time).
