Windmill C 4 Marine View 1
Good game played at the Duke of Wellington, friendly atmosphere, banter a plenty, and pizza to finish off.
Game One; Steve Oliver with the break against Steve Aylmore, Steve O started with 600, and then the game developed into a top of the table scrap. Steve A kept closing the gap, but Steve O did enough to keep his lead intact. 2420-1380 1-0 to Marine.
Game Two; Arthir Brewster with the break against Matt Mason. Bit like the first with Arthur opening with 900 and then both players struggling to master the top end, and both having their shre of pegs. Arthur keeping his lead throughout, 2430-2280. 1-1
Game Three; Dave Catchpole break again Bill Kerr. Dave off at 300, Bill retrieved break and made sure with opening 4.5k. Dave struggled all the way, and Bill added another 4.5k to make sure. 9050-600 2-1 Windmill.
Game Four; Terry Molloy breaks against John Hayes. Terry starts with 2k, John gets break back to close with 1200. Terry gets another 1.5k and holds that lead through to end. 4840-2390 3-1 Windmill.
Game Five; Even breaks, with Bepo first against TJ. Bepo off with 350. TJ goes well until at 2k pushes ball passed left hand fifty hole, holds break. Tj first back on the break and with the match safe builds a reasonable break just short of 9k when he spins one in the 100 to take out right hand peg. Game still safe as only 1 minute to the bar. ( Actually to the important bar it was only a side step.) 2680-1320. 4-1.
Thanks to the Marine for an enjoyable evening which carried through to the doubles, thanks to landlord Roy for laying on food despite not knowing he had a game on his table.

In the Sheild
Duke of Wellington 4 -1 Henty @ Swan
Wins for Nigel, Chris, Tupps and regg3y. Wolfman won for the Henty. The new players from the Henty all proved they could play, and will certainly improve if they stick at the game

Gardeners B 4 - 1 Dolphin @ Henty
Good win for Bob in the first. Bob accumulated 7K+ with about 6Min's to go. Paul got the break back and looked as if he could just pinch it. Unfortunately a whip round the 100 pocket on a split took out the peg and the game was over.
The Gardeners however rallied and took the next four games with wins for Nick, Gary, Tony and Neil.
Great evening with good bar billiards even though some of it was played in very trying circumstances, especially Gary's.

Kevin,
The pub was fairly busy - in particular there was a large group of pissed up youngsters sitting next to the table - at one stage whilst Ridley was on a break one of them was actually sitting on the edge of the table.
Wasn't really that bad, but Gary is a bit of a tart with things like that - witness his reactions when a ball won't sit on the edge of the D ;D

Damn, that`s what i meant to do, drop a new `D` into the pub :(
Three Horseshoes`A` 3 Swan `B` 2
Our fourth attempt to win at the Windmill this season and it came off. Table still quite tricky and going right to the last game.
Mal 1,010 Dipper 4,170 - Poor Mal, he never got a sniff of the break throughout the game. Roger made about 3 breaks to take the first. 0 - 1
Paul Reece 6,050 Phil Oakley 3,130 - A real scrap this one with Paul finding some form to beat Phil. Paul`s 3 breaks to Phil`s 2 was enough. 1 - 1
BB Reaper 1,160 Barry Holt 6,040 - Same as the first with Kev struggling to clear the balls & Barry making several breaks. 1 - 2
Kt 8,490 Trevor Foard 2,100 - A 4k opening break(seemed like 10) and another couple of smaller ones levelled the match. 2 - 2
BB Warrior 6,220 Matt Squire 3,740 - Dave opened with 1200, Matt came back with a thousand and pegged. They both added another couple of thousand each before Dave killed the game with a 2k+ break. Well played mate ;)
Hard luck to the Swan & thanks to the Windmill for the Jacket spuds and a huge pot of mince & veg. Sad to say that this was probably the last game at the pub for a while. Hopefully there will be teams there in the future, if not the end of this season.
Good luck to Jackie & Gareth wherever they end up :)
In the Shield competition, the Stadium `B` beat the Three Horseshoes `B` 4 - 1. Alan & Dave did try to level the top (asTarratts haven`t been able to gain access), don`t think it made a great deal of difference, it was still tough. Highest score of the night by Hayley, about 4k.
Of course, you can get a table level til your blue in the face, but if the break spot is in the wrong place, you`ll never get the break. ??? After the match, they moved the break spot forward a fraction and it went clean as a whistle :-X

Agree with Paul Kev. Just a group of pissed up kids. Was a bit off putting at times as they were so close to the table and at times in the line of sight. Overall though it was the same for both teams. Maybe my comment about it being 'very trying circumstances' was a bit too strong. Sorry.

I see on the fixture lists it doesn`t have a date for the Chairmans cup semi finals :-/ Then i look again and there was, on the 28th Feb :( As the original prelim match between the two Swan teams didn`t get played until the 3rd of January, this has delayed all the rounds by one. So the semis of both cup & shield will be on the 3rd April and both finals on the 24th April.
