Windmill v Stadium
Mick Pope 490 - 8,870 Ian Lelliott Ian off at just over 1k but first to get break back only to peg another 1k. Mick got balls back but broke down shortly afterwards, Ian then settled into a nice 5.5k break and added another 2k at the end. 0-1 :(
Charlie Cooper 3,530 - 2,640 Martin Smith A very scrappy game from the start...... Charlie's first one up whipped out of the 50 hole, Martin got the break back but pegged his split shot. Chances continued for both players, Charlie got the break back but broke down on 700, balls stayed awkward for a while then Charlie managed a 2k break. Martin got them back straight away but ran out of time. 1-1 :-/
Edge Butler BP - 3,200 (ish?) Tony Lewis (sorry, didn't write score down :-[) Another scrappy game, Tony off at under 1k, Edge replied with similar break. The balls stayed at the back for a while before Tony knocked in about 1.5k in the middle of the game which proved to be enough with Edge never quite able to get the break back. 1-2 :(
Gina Sherratt 4,000 - 510 Geoff Jukes Neither player settled at the start, with Geoff finding the black peg with a ball that came back much quicker than he expected. Gina eventually got the break back and played out to the end of the game with a steady 3k break to level the match. 2-2 ;D
And so to the decider....... with reports of the Swan A losing 3-2 at the Three Horseshoes A and the Marquis B 3-1 down at the Schooner, the destination for the Division 1 Title rested on the final game of the year....... :o 8-)
Dave Ingram v Mark James Unfortunately (for me), Mark managed to get to grips with the table pretty quickly and was going well on 6k+ when he didn't quite hit a split correctly, but kept his score and left the red ball behind the 50 hole and the white ball pretty central and an inch or so short of the 100. ::) With a bit of luck, I potted one ball into the 50 hole and moved the red ball down to the 30 hole, clearing that with the next shot and leaving just the ball near the 100 hole. I opted to try to split it to the 30 holes.... but took out a white peg with the cue ball. :-/ Mark showed no mercy and ran in another 4k, coming off just in time to let me get the break back as the bar dropped..... ::) :( Final scores...... Me 950 - 10,350 Mark :'(
Well played Mark, without question the best performance of the night. ;D 8-)
Congratulations to the Stadium on winning the Premier Division this year...... worthy champions. ;D

With the decision of div one winners in the balance at the start of the evening this was always going to be a nervy and competitive affair.
Barney went off with 600 against TJ. Both struggled for 5 or so minutes to get break back. TJ first and put in steady 4k. 5200-1740 1-0
Bill put on to consilidate lead and did so with steady 7k opener against Nick Brown. 8550-350 2-0.
With the Marquis needing this one Gary Ridley went off with just over 1k. Terry I don`t moan Molloy replied with 2.5k before catching split thick. Gary then put together a steady 5k. 2730-6500 2-1
Rick C went off with 6,800 leaving Niel Higgins around 7 minutes. Niel was on course and was 800 short with the bar due but he caught the split thick and was off as the bar fell. Think he would have done it had he stayed on. 6830-6240.
Steve and Tony Burgess both struggled to get to grips with the table and Steve did enough to win, 2310-1770 1-4
Well done to Swan A on there winning division one even losing their last match at the Horseshoes 3-2. The Marquis B end second on game difference over the Windmill. Again another good season with the div one title going to the last game to finish on the evening.
Excellent evening against Marquis with a very enjoyable doubles at the end.
